I was wonder if the orange "ground when armed" wire coming out of the Viper 790XV brain unit is actually GND when armed? Or is that a signal wire that triggers an external relay that connects to ground when armed?

I'm just trying to install the the motion/tilt sensor and it needs an armed when ground wire and I was wondering if it's as easy as just splicing into the orange wire.

Yes , the Orange it is ground when armed.
If adding a sensor to the orange cable be sure to insert a diode between the upper point of the insertion and the starter killer relay so the relay won't send back a positive signal.

Oh, didn't know that I needed a diode there. Thanks. Is that because switching the relay is a heavy enough load to create a back emf pulse?

Uh, the orange wire is in series with the starter kill relay and basically when the car is not starting the wire will see a ground from the starter. The diode prevents the ground from affecting other sensors such as window modules.

Awe man, I'm confused even after reading all the previous diode posts and the app note page.

Sorry to ask such a newbie question, but are you talking about a diode across the starter kill relay coil? Or are we talking about putting a diode inline (on the ground when armed wire) to the sensors, so when the relay is energized, the sensors won't receive12V on the "ground when armed" wire?
