Installed a Viper 4204v & Fortin SL-3 in a 98 Honda Accord EX (auto), a month and a 1/2 ago.

I have a problem that happens on occasion after the car has been sitting for a while: Remote start, the car cranks & cranks but doesn't start. Multiple attempts, same result. Try starting with the key, starts up fine... Then shut off & remove key and try remote start again, it works starts fine.
This happens rarely and unable to replicate.

I've already ruled out a bypass problem by putting the key in the ignition when it's doing this problem.
Tach is wired up & programmed successfully.

The car's battery is a bit on the weak side as the owner tells me.

What I don't understand or know if it's possible for a weak battery to cause the remote start to crank & crank but not start, then start fine with the key?
Is this possible, anyone have experience with this type of a "no start" issue?

Where do you make your tach connection?

I drink current, eat ohms, and bleed voltage

Blue wire at the tach test connector near the battery.

I would move your tach connection to a fuel injector or coil pack. Use the non common wire at the injectors/coils. I've had issues with the test connectors not working properly like in your case.

Wouldn't a tach issue cause shorter than normal cranking attempts? This thing keeps cranking for long periods like it's not getting any fuel.
If it is, I may give it a try.

I would test all of your ignition / accessory outputs to make sure they are not dropping voltage for some reason. Where did you ground the unit?
