Over the past couple of years I've had a handful of Hondas (CRVs, Civics, and others) come back because the car runs for around 45 secs. then shuts off. Mostly with Avital 4113s, but today I got a call for a SmartStart (same brain off the top of my head). All installs were done using virtual tach. The virtual tach works easily on the majority of my installs except some older vehicles. What about these cars is different? Do i need to hook up tach on every one that comes in to be on the safe side? (Yes I know every install should have a tach hooked up, but I dont always have that kinda time)

The most recent is a 2013 CRV

All new Honda's with the Econ button the charging system is controled by the PCM. So tachless doesn't always work because it doesn't sense the voltage changing it needs to sense to see if the vehicle is running.  Use tach from your module works great and no need to run wires under the hood.
