Hello all! I am going to attempt my first install of an auto start and security system on my 2008 GMC Sierra. I'd appreciate some suggestions of the easiest system that I could install. I really like the Fortin Evo-All and the GM T-harness, the ease of installation using a harness like that really seem ideal for my situation, being a newbie and not wanting to hack into my actual vehicle wiring harness. I'd like to have a long range remote start/security unit, around 1 mile if possible. I would greatly appreciate any and all suggestions. Thank you!

The Arctic Start Edge 2X with a CM-6000 brain would be a good option. Its a 1mile range 2way alarm remote start that you can connect with the EVO-ALL in D2D mode and give yourself a clean and easy install

I should add; I do not mind doing W2W, actually I may prefer it just for reliability sake. Everything I read about D2D is less than flattering. That said, I really like a T-harness solution just to avoid having to splice into the factory auto harness. Maybe a better question to ask would be; what auto start/alarm, bypass and door lock interface are most compatible with each other and my vehicle, prefferably one that can use a harness like the t-harness?

After quite a bit of research I've started to really like the Firstech (Compustar) CM6000 or CM6200 modules with the Blade AL bypass/interface. This looks quite simple to install and set up. My only question right now is; can I buy any Blade AL, is it simply a firmware update to GM-10 for compatibility with my truck?

In order to not have to cut into my factory harness at all I think what I am going to do is purchase a t-harness from either dei or fortin and modify it for my install with the compustar/blade. If I can make the install completely removable with no trace I was ever in there, that would be awesome. Unless somebody tells me this route is stupid, I think I am going to proceed with it.

I wouldnt cut up a t-harness. nor would i go with the blade al. to flash the blade you need a programmer. you can buy a preflashed evo-all or ads-al-ca that can be used D2D and is basically the same install

I had planned to get the blade ADS-USB updater in order to flash the blade.
Are those options using D2D as reliable as using the blade?
