Hi I'm totaly new to this forum and hope I'm putting this topic in the correct place.

 I need some info on installing a viper 5704v in my wife's 2010 honda crv ex. I would like to know if there is anything else that I need to make the install easier/faster.
Do I need any other modules that wer not included in the box, and if so what do I need.
    And I can't seem to find a wiring diagram for this car.

This is her Christmas present and I was wanting to install it by then. I get a couple days off next week and want to do it wile she's at work   

So if there is anything I could get to make it more of a plug and play install I would like to know. It's my first alarm system install so any info at all will be greatly appreciated.

You will need a bypass module.  Being as you have the EX model that has a Factory Alarm and you want easy,
think about a "full featured" bypass module that is DIYer friendly.  The EVO-ALL from Fortin would be a good
choice.  It will do the transponder bypass plus handle the Locks, Alarm, and Hatch plus provide the Door, Hood
and Hatch status signals and the Brake and Tach signals.  A lot less connections for $60.  Here is a link to the

Unfortunately, there is no simple plug-n-play harness setup for your vehicle.

Thank you for that information. Those links are a lot of help. I do have a couple other questions regarding the evo-all. Do I need to buy a programmer like I will with the xpress dball? And how does the evo-all compare to the dball unit as far as ease of programming, reliability, and ease of wiring install? Also I hear a lot about having to be a dealer to access the programs. Is this true?

Sorry I forgot one thing. How will the evo all effect the factory alarm, and will the viper alarm function as advertised?    I know I may sound like an idiot for the questions I'm asking, but I am just trying to get all my bases covered before I move foreword. Thanks for being patient.

All valid questions.   Easy install is a relative term.  Typically it means "the fewest connections in the vehicle", but it can
mean other things.   Like using the D2D harness instead of individual W2W wire connections between the modules, etc.

My suggestion of the EVO-ALL would save you the cost of the Fortin FlashLink USB cable and is a primary reason for the
recommendation.  Most DIYers are trying to save money and don't want to buy something they will only use once.  This
cable is similar to the DEI XKLoader2 cable in function.  The basic EVO-ALL comes pre-loaded with Ver 4.18 firmware
which will work on your 2010 CRV.  The downside is that while you will save the $50 on the FlashLink cable you will be
forced to go with W2W between the Viper and the EVO-ALL.  If you had the FlashLink cable, you could select the DBI
Ver 4.18 firmware and be able to go with D2D to the Viper.   Personally, I prefer going W2W and don't mind spending a
1/2 hour doing the bench prep.

The Fortin FlashLink cable does allow you to customize the EVO-ALL's functions just like the XKLoader cable would
with the DB-ALL.  ( This could be important with the CRV's factory alarm system, if it needs to be turned off prior to a
remote start.)

As far as comparing the DB-ALL to the EVO-ALL...  Well, that is very subjective.  I'm not sure if there are many installers
that have specific experience with both modules in your exact application.  I don't and I will freely admit I'm not a big
DEI user.  My personal favorites are iDatalink and Fortin and that's a subjective opinion from personal use / experience.
IMHO, the modules from iDatalink and Fortin are very reliable, the install guides are well written and easy to follow /
understand and the iDatalink modules are very easy to program.  Fortin module programming is slightly more complicated
due to their versatility and wide range of supported vehicles.  As far as I know, both the DEI and Fortin WEB sites for
flashing a module are not restricted ( XpressKit Key2Go excluded ).  

I may not be of much help on the Viper and the alarm part of the equation.  My thoughts are :  the CRV has a factory alarm,
the CRV has a transponder based ignition immobilizer system so why add the Viper alarm?  Remote Start is good and the
keyless entry is necessary.

Anyway, you might be able to find an on-line retailer that will flash the bypass module with whatever firmware you request
prior to shipment.  This would include the DB-ALL w/Honda4, a Fortin EVO-ALL with DBI enabled V4.18 and even an
iDatalink ADS AL CA ( or FLCAN ) flashed with DBI AL(DL) HA2 firmware.  

There are many other forum members that might add their thoughts on DB-ALL's, D2D vs W2W and actual experience
with the Gen3 CRV.  For some basic info, here is a link to a Pictorial on a 2007 CRV ( 2008 - 2011 should be similar ) :

Thank you again for the info it has helped a ton. The big reson I got this kit is becouse it was at a great price. The factory alarm is all I really want anyway, although the shock sensor added to it would be nice. Would I be able to add the viper keyless entry, and remote start alone without the alarm function, Or will that not be an option? Or even just the remote start and keep the factory fob for the doors and factory alarm.
       I may just get a deticated remote start. I just don't want to have to use two key fobs to operate everything.
        The wiring doesn't seem to bad now that I have more info on the vehicles diagram.

Thanks for giving me the information about my alarm install. It was pretty simple once I had the correct links, and the evo all bypass works great.
 I think I was just getting discouraged last time I posted because I had talked to a few guys locally that tried to scare me out of doing it myself.
Anyway I didn't get it installed for christmas. But that's another story.
        There is one thing I may have done wrong. Here is my setup.
   2010 honda crv ex
    Viper 5704
     Fortin evo all. Connected w2w

    The thing I am scratching my head on little is my factory alarm goes off when I just push the remote start. But it works fine if I unlock, remote start, then lock. I wired everything up as the diagram said. But I'm thinking I should have connected the oem alarm arm & disarm outputs from the brain ether to the bypass or to the alarm arm & disarm wires on the vehicle. Although i don't think it would do any good to wire it to the bypass because it already has the lock & unlock output wires from the brain on it, but they do have different mA outputs. What could I do so I only need to press the remote start button to start it?
And will connecting these arm & disarm outputs to the locations stated mess anything up?
        Any help is appreciated.   Thanks

I read your other post about the flash link cable. I will get one and do that if I have to but I just don't want to spend the money rite now or take the dash back apart to program it. That's why I was wandering if I could just run the arm and disarm wires from the brain to the vehicle. I already have them routed to where it would only take a couple of minutes to do. Would it mess anything up having the viper and the bypass giving arm and disarm pulses?

Great I am going to do that. I already have the disarm wire in place. it just needs connected. Also I am assuming you meant menu 2 unless there is something I missed.
        Your help has been perfect thank you again. I'm glad you were able to confirm my thoughts. Everything should work out splendid now.

I connected the disarm wire from the brain to the disarm wire on the car, and programmed as you stated above. Everything works brilliantly! Thank you again!
