putting a remote start in, says to use the driver lock motor wire which is gray brown at the smart junction box, but that is giving me a constant ground. anybody else have any idea where to get this or what wire to tap for a temp ground on lock?

I'm assuming your trying to use a factory remote to control a remote start system ? Sorry I'm not familiar with the Excalibur systems. If your system is looking for a ground pulse for activation. You could use a relay off the lock wire to invert the positive pulse to a negative pulse.

I've done it using relays on many cars no issues to speak of

LOCK MOTOR WIRE      GRAY/BROWN (5-WIRE TYPE)      IN DRIVERS KICK PANEL
This wire should test as (+) pulse with a Lock command.

86 12v from GRAY/BROWN lock motor IN DRIVERS KICK PANEL
85 ground
87 ground
30 out to R/S (-) activation input wire

It will only get a pulse 12v when the lock is activated

there is only one gray/brown wire on the smart junction box connector E, which is where more than one wiring guide has pointed me to in order to get that wire. I tried 2 different relays thinking one may have been bad. Still cant figure it out. Going to borrow an analog volt meter (mine is a cheaper digital one) and see if that helps me find it. Is there any other wires that can be used for this function? I really appreciate your assistance btw, and if i sounded short earlier it's because my fingers were frozen and i couldnt type. LoL.

You should be able to grab it in the driver's kick panel as well as the harness coming from the door.
