Hello all! I have a 03 RSX Type S and I am installing a Compustar AS-6000 into it. I want to know if I can tap into the OEM Security LED so I dont have to drill any holes in my interior. I also would like know know if I can use the factory hood and trunk switches for this Remote start and security system.

1.) You can use the existing hood pin and trunk pin, no problem.

2.) I would leave the factory LED intact, in case you ever want to use the factory remotes for service, etc. Are you enabling the factory alarm along with the Compustar?

Anyway, I would find a convenient spot for the Compustar LED along the bottom of the driver's pillar and place the LED there, with the wires under the pillar, just a suggestion.

You should be able to use the factory LED. Simply find the BLACK / YELLOW wire coming off the indicator, cut it and connect the end that goes to the indicator to the LED wire of your alarm system. Or the same wire that connects the starter kill relay to your alarm.

If you're not going to use the factory alarm, I would follow Mr. I's recommendation.

Connect the BLACK / YELLOW from your RSX to your compustar 2 pin LED connector, the pin which would normally connect to the black (-) wire of your Compustar LED.

An alternative is to connect the BLACK / YELLOW to the Ground When Armed signal, providing a constant (non-blinking) LED indication when the car is armed.

Ok thanks! So what do I connect the white wire of the compustar led wiring?

Nothing. Normally the BLACK/ white stripe wire supplies power and current limiting (i.e, a resistor) to the LED.    In this case, the LED is powered by the car and there is a resistor in series with the LED. Only the LED ground connection will be used.
