Well I am looking for some help in putting to bed an car starter install that has been a nightmare.

So a year ago I bought a Carvox X6A car starter spent 250.00 having it installed by a reputable company. From the get go the unit just did not function properly. So I ordered a replacement brain and still had problems, that is when what the installer said to me rang true "You get what you pay for". So I was told do a DEI (Viper) or a Compustar. Ended up buying a Python 5706P.

When I went back to the company they said 350.00 to install it. :(

Guess they needed to remove the Carvox and were miffed I did just listen to them the first time.

As I am not bad with electrical I decided to swap out the units myself (wife was mad about another 350.00 being spent) so I did a wire for wire swap.

Now I have confirmed my FJ does not have a key with a chip by getting a replacement key cut (it starts fine with the blank) and here is what happened.

The Python arms/disarms correctly, siren works, range is great, warning led is fine, side lights flash, doors lock/unlock fine, alarm works great, however when I tried to use the remote starter it does not work... I did reprogram it from manual to auto, have the switch closed, it turns on the dash lights, does not turn over.

So I have removed the split loom and would like to focus on the 10 pin wiring harness as I think that is where the problem lies. I only use my Fluke meter, I do not use T splicers, I only solder and split loom my wiring. I think it is the fact I did not install a relay for the Ignition 2 wiring.

Frankly I am really nervous here as I started this a year ago and cannot put it off any longer.

I have the wiring information for my FJ but here is what I am asking for from you all.

Can someone help me by providing me with what wire goes where?

Specifically the Viper 5706P/LC3 10 pin Remote Start to what wire on my FJ, and as well to explain how to install the required relay? Some say a diode is required some say no for the relay???

I know I am pushing it by asking but honest I have so much downloaded info I am getting confused. :(

Thanks in advanced.

Humbled Randy

I take it that this is the 2007 FJ you were working on back in March?

H3/2, 6, and 9 to 12 Volts constant (Blue/Black) or out to battery.

H3/4 to starter side of cut starter 1 Wire, H3/5 to Key Side of Starter 1. If not wanting to cut the starter wire, just use H3/4 to starter 1 Wire. Cut and cap H3/5. (GREEN/ Black)

Starter 2, Relay needed.
85-    Starter output -200ma from remote start (H2/13)
86/87- 12v constant (I would fuse this)
30-    Starter 2 wire (BLACK/ White)

H3/1 to Ignition 1 (BLACK/ Red)

H3/7 to Ignition 2 (Blue / YELLOW)

H3/3 to Accessory (WHITE/ Green)

As always, use a DMM to verify ALL wires prior to making connection.

Things seemed to be growing fine now Ihave major problems!

Followed the instructions, double checked everything 3 times.

When I tried to do a test the dash lights would come on but it would not turn over. So when I checked everything again with my meter everything looked fine. I had a document from the Toyota Forum saying instead of using the strater -200mA brain output I should use the -200mA aux 1 output.

My FJ immediately started.

Ran thru all the tests, arm-disarm, locks, lights, but noticed the siren was getting quieter it eventually just stopped????

So I go for a test everything is fine, pull over put in park it dies? Start it fine hit reverse fine, hit drive it stalls? Now the strange thing is there a rushing kind of fan sound coming from the drivers side behind the instrument cluster???

I then unplugged the Python 5706P brain, same thing?

I start my FJ it staill stalls. So I remove the battery post let it sit and at least get it in my garage but the problem still persists. Would I have needed a diode with the relay?

Any help is very much appreciated.

Randy

Also I did not cut the Starter 1 wire I just cut and capped H3/5 and used the Violet to Starter 1.

We I ended pulling out the alarm system and my FJ works fine. :)

Decided to go to a reputable shop they fixed me up but did comment the original shop I went to did a so so wiring job.

Anyways I did need a diode for the relay and as well the original installer had soldered starter 1 and 2 together???

Thanks
Randy
