Hi everyone, I have a good buddy of mine that wants to install a viper 5704 on his 2009 dodge journey. what is the best bypass module to use? DBALL, idatalink ADS-ALCA, ADS-ALSL CH,ADS-DLSL CA2 OR EVO-ALL???

They all will work fine. I personally like the idatalink and evo all. They seem to be less problematic.

OK, personal opinion time...
First, I have never used a DB-ALL for that application. The DB-ALL would be the obvious first choice due to the D2D option.
I have used the EVO-ALL and the ADS AL-CA. If you can get the ADS AL-CA flashed with the DBI-AL(DL)-CH4 firmware that would allow a D2D install. Same goes for the EVO-ALL, it can be flashed with the D2D option selected to allow D2D comm with the Viper. However, I still have more confidence in the W2W mode. Yes, it's a lot of connections, but it always works well. Going W2W, you could use the standard firmware flash ADS AL(DL) CH4 or the basic EVO-ALL firmware flash Ver 4.09 and up or Ver 74.xx. If you have the Fortin FlashLink USB cable, you could do the firmware flash and set some advanced options as necessary. With the iDatalink module, besides the ADS USB cable, you would need to have registered Dealer access to flash the module.
The iDatalink SOLO series come with the iDatalink D2D and can't go D2D with the Viper. They can go W2W, though.
Either unit, EVO-ALL or ADS AL-CA, is a solid choice. Personally, I like the EVO-ALL for that application. ------------- Soldering is fun!

Hi, Thank you for your recommendations. I have read a lot of good things about the EV0-ALL. So the winner is the EVO-ALL flashed with Hardware 4 and Firmware 4.09 per the installation guide. Also the THAR-CHR4 T-HARNESS.
The following is how we are planning to proceed with the install. We would really appreciate If any of you guys could see if we are on the right path. thank you... IF ANY ERRORS PLEASE HELP AND COMMENT.

The EVO-ALL lists a Hatch Release function so you could connect the Viper H2/5 RED / White Trunk Release to this EVO-ALL wire : H2/5 to EVO-ALL Plug A Pin A-13
Don't think the H2/7 Dome Light Supervision is necessary. Do the interior lights come on with a Unlock from the Factory Remotes?
The EVO-ALL can only supply a Hood Status Output if the Journey has a factory hood pin installed. Test to ensure the Journey has the hood pin. If not, install the Viper kit supplied hood pin.
For Viper alarm purposes, you should connect this Viper wire, H2/19 BLUE (-) TRUNK PIN / INSTANT TRIGGER INPUT (N/O) to the EVO-ALL (-) Trunk Status at Pin A-5.
Remember that the EVO-ALL controls the Journey's Factory Alarm with a Lock or Unlock. If you have the Factory Alarm, you might have to do a Unlock before and a Lock after remote start-up to prevent triggering the Journey's factory alarm. The Fortin Flashlink cable makes this real easy in the EVO-ALL's Advanced Settings
Think everything else is good. Good luck on the install. ------------- Soldering is fun!

Thank you Kreg357, just received email that the EVO-ALL and the Fortin flashlink cable will be arriving next week. will take pictures of the install...
How can one tell if journey has factory alarm, the key fob only has lock and unlock buttons, but that doesn't necessary mean it has factory alarm or does it??? Again thanks for all the help on this install and on previous install.....

To test for a Factory Alarm system, try this : 1. With engine running, roll down drivers door window. 2. Turn off engine. 3. Exit car and with door open press the doors interior Lock button, 4. Close the door. 5. Wait 2 minutes. 6. Reach in to car thru open window and open the door with the interior handle. 7. The horn will start beeping if you have the Factory Alarm system.
If you have the Factory alarm, check for the Hood Pin with this procedure : 1. Start with the engine running. 2. Turn off engine. 3. Open the door and press the doors interior Lock button. 4. Stay seated and close the door. 5. Wait 2 minutes. 6. Pop the hood with the interior hood release. 7. The horn will start beeping if you have the Factory Hood Pin. The Flashlink cable *** will make things easier if you have the Factory Alarm. With it you can set the EVO-ALL to do the "Unlock before and Lock after remote start" routine. Plus you can use the newer 74.xx firmware.
***The FlashLink cable is used to flash the firmware onto the EVO-ALL. The THAR-CHR4 harness is only used to simplify the install. ------------- Soldering is fun!
