Having some trouble with the ground when armed output on a Viper 5901. I am using it to activate a relay that will cut the crankshaft position sensor. The relay is as follows:

85 - GWA from 5901
86 - Ign
30 - Crankshaft Position ECU side
87a - Crankshaft Position sensor side

The car will start when the vehicle is not armed perfectly fine, but when I attempt to remote start, the relay is activating for some reason. I am seeing the GWA wire provide ground, thus activating the relay. Is this the normal operation of the GWA wire? Does it normally provide a ground during remote start? Couldn't find any settings to change through bitwriter.

This issue really spoiled a smooth install!

Many cars will run without a crank shaft position sensor. It will crank longer but eventually switch to cam sensors and batch firing instead of sequential (if it has cam sensors). The car won't run as good as normal but it will still run. Just throwing that out there. I do believe it is normal for the GWA to engage when remote starting but I did think there was a programming option to defeat it. Have you rtfm? ILaMH!

Also, it is possible for the NC contacts on a relay to "bounce" when the relay is exposed to shocks and vibrations. Running a crank sensor through a relay contact is probably not a great idea.

if you have the anti grind programmed the GWA wire activates while the car is remote started..

Vehicle is an 06 Evo 9, and it most certainly will not run without a crank signal. They are constantly stolen in my area, just trying something new.

Hi,
An option to consider for the interrupt relay. Instead of using a SPDT bosch-type relay, use a 4PDT relay (ice cube type) with the contacts paralleled. The thought is each pole has an individual armature (movable arm), it would be harder for all four to vibrate and disconnect. Have used above relay as an ignition disconnect on a motorcycle project with no issues.
