I have a 3705v installed on my 93 mr2. The car has no frunk or hood pin switch. As of now I have the instant trigger input wired to my (-) on my trunk light. I tested it with the system armed then released the trunk lid, and found it to be functional.

So I plan to have my trunk light wire, dei 8613 on engine lid, and dei 8613 on frunk lid wired to the instant trigger input on the viper system. My question is when is it necessary to diode isolate, and would I need to in this situation?

Diode together at the join, 2 X 1N4004, bands away from the 3705.
This is because if your hood switch were to fail, stress corrosion, etc., it wont force on the trunk light and drain your battery.

Thank you for your reply. It is much appreciated. I'll stop by a radioshack and pick up some diodes. Just for the sake of argument, I would be fine without diode isolating the sensors, but in the case of failure if I didn't diode isolate there would be failure at other points in my car?

This was the main point, if your hood switch were to fail, stress corrosion, etc., it won't force on the trunk light and drain your battery.
But there are many other uses for diodes, protection of components against spikes on relay shut down etc.
You must read the diode section here on this site.

Great thanks again. I'll give it a go when I get all my sensors in from shipment.
