2007 TACOMA V6

Okay I need to know how to get this going on my truck. I'm going to pick up this alarm w/remote start. Do I only need the blade module programmed for my truck to get the remote start functioning properly?

The ADS-ALCA is cheaper, but yea, that needs to be programmed for the truck.

If I remember correctly, the wire diagram says to hook up the CAN wires at the diagnostics port. This isn't required because they don't have a solution to read the CAN on the Tacoma.

The Tacoma is a pretty straight-forward install.

The reason why I'm going with the blade is because it should leave me with one less item to find a spot to mount it. I already have to find a spot for my backup battery, glass sensor and tilt sensor. So if I program the blade, install it in the FT6000 brain, wire up the alarm is usual then everything should work? Are there extra wires I need to wire up from the brain to the immobiliser ring?

Sorry can't edit my post but I'll add that I only need it for remote start.

Oh ok, that might be worth it then!

There is a small area in the driver's kick panel behind the factory wire harnesses. It's a great spot for extra sensors. I put my DBALLs there.

As long as you follow the wire diagram, everything will work. There are 3 wires that go to the ignition coil and keysense (all 3 from the immobilizer) and (if I remember) 5 heavy gauge wires from the remote start. There are two starter wires and two ignition wires, so you're going to need a relay or two.

Two start wires and two ignition wires? Wow this I gotta look up. Not to worry I always stock those tyco relays and harness. The best I ever had.

Here's one for an '08, but it's the same diagram.

So I see the diagrams for the 06 tacomas and it shows two starter and two ignition. The alarm only uses one of the ignition and for the starter. How do I go about this? Going by what you said I already know I need 2 relays.

You may want to refer to:

https://www.the12volt.com/relays/relaydiagram25.html

The setup is very similar. Pin 86 would be connected to Ignition1 (on remote starter), Pin 30 to your other ignition wire (on truck), Pin 87 to +12V (make sure it's fused!).

For the starter, Pin 86 to Starter1 (on remote starter), pin 30 to your second starter wire (on truck), and pin 87 to +12V (make sure it's fused!).

For both of the pin 87's, the +12V source can come from the +12V at the steering column. Install a fuse between the relay and the truck.

So the first relay pin 30 will send power to the starter1 as well as send a signal to the second relay to power starter2?

Same goes for the ignition wires?

Pin 30 is the output of the relay. When pin 85 is to ground, and pin 86 receives the +12V (from the ignition1), the relay activates and connects the +12V constant source from pin 87 to pin 30 which makes ignition 2 hot.

The same goes for the starter relay.

Not sure if it makes sense the way I explained it!

Are you saying the ignition1 wire from the truck will trigger the relay to provide power to ignition 2, same goes for the starter wires? It took me a while to think about what you said. Let me draw out a diagram and you can confirm it for me.

My mistake thats suppose to be Ignition 2, not Starter 2.

Also, I'm thinking in order to not blow fuses do I cut the 2nd Ignition wire from the key cylinder?

Yea, it's a relay for ignition and a relay for starter.

No, don't cut anything or the physical key won't work! :-)

So following the wiring diagram that comes with the brain, I should only cut the starter1 wire ( for starter-cut relay) and continue to wire starter2 as is. The ignition wires don't need to be cut but just wire them in as you say. Most importantly an inline fuse for the constant 12v wires going to each relay. If so than I can see myself using only two additional relays.

You can install a starter cutout, but it's not really needed since the immobilizer will do it. The truck can't be started without the correct key signal. I wouldn't go through the hassle of cutting the wires at all - except maybe on an older car without an immobilizer.

I would use 20A fuses on the relays.
