Hello,

I recently installed a viper 5701 using dball. Everything was working fine. Then recently I noticed the following:

1 After the car is remote started, and once I step on the brake, the engine should turn off. It was working but now the engine won't turn off after stepping on the brake

2 Cannot go into the program mode. Supposedly if I 1) open a door, and 2) then turn the ignition on and off, and 3) press and hold the control button I should be able to change the settings. It was working before, but now at step 3), there is no flashes+chirps no matter how long I press the control button, but instead once I release the button, the blue LED on the control turns on.

Anyone has any idea what might go wrong?

Thanks!

Is it in valet mode? You'll know because the car will be unlocked and the LED will flash or stay solid.

To get it out of valet mode, (F)x2 then unlock on the remote.

No question is stupid or not worth asking. You were once a noob, right? :)

Check that the brown wire on the 24 pin connector is getting a POS (+) feed when you press down on the brake pedal with the ignition on.
Check the the green wire on the 24 pin connector goes to ground when a door is opened.
Otherwise it's x 2 with freqsounds.

Thanks for the reply.

Yes I think the problem is that when I tried to go into programming mode, I turn on/off the valet mode instead.

The only difference between go into valet mode and go into programming mode is one requires open the door, one doesn't.

Does that mean the viper doesn't sense the door is open? What can cause that? It was working fine before...

thanks for reply.

I used d2d, are these two connections still required?

What do you mean "Otherwise it's x 2 with freqsounds."?

Thanks again.

Finally I found the issue... Hope this helps others who might have the same problem...

I use dball with d2d mode, turned out one of the two jumpers that set d2d or w2w fell off. I found it on the floor and put it back, and secured using electric tape. All the issues are gone! (Braking now turns off the remote start, can go into programming w/o issue, and the sliding doors can be controled correctly using the viper remote control...).
