I'm planning on installing a Viper 211HV keyless entry unit on a 2008 Pontiac G6 later this week. Its been a while since I've done anything like this so I'm hoping to get a quick double check on my plan from some of you to see if I missed something or messed up on something. I also have a few questions at the bottom. If you have any tips I'd be glad to hear them too. Thanks!

Questions
1. Does anyone know if this car’s locks are normally open or normally closed? I’m assuming normally open. Once I’m in there I’ll test the wires, but it would be nice to know beforehand.
2. Do I need a resistor or fuse or anything between Pins 85 and 86 on the relay?
4. What size fuse would you recommend for the 12V constant on the relay?
3. On Bulldog's wiring guide for this car, for the constant power wire is says: @ BCM, Red 41-Pin plug Pin D1, "X3". What does the "X3" mean? Or should I not even worry about it?

The X1, X2 and X3 denotes the three connectors on the BCM.  Here is a photo of a 2011 Malibu's BCM with the connectors marked :

You might not need the relay for the Trunk Release.  I believe a low current (-) pulse will pop the trunk.

The 211HV's Lock/Unlock Normally Closed wires would be used on vehicles that needed 5 wire REV control.  Your wiring is good
for the Type B (-) locks.

Thanks for the picture kreg. That explains the mysterious X3.

I was unsure if I needed the relay. I read that if I need a relay and didn't use one, it could burn out something in the car. But now that I'm writing this, I'm not sure that's right. The signal would either be strong enough or not, right? I'll put it in without the relay and see if it works. If it does work without a relay, am I good to go without worrying about a future problem?

Re : Trunk Release

If the G6 wire is the same gauge as the Lock wire, you will be fine.  Bulldog Security sometimes lists a relay as necessary because some of their units only have a (+) Trunk Release output and would need to be converted to (-) for your G6.
