Hey guys,

New problem. I installed a Viper 5904 with a DBALL2 in a 2006 Dodge Grand Caravan.

Two hours after boxing up, the client called and said the lock/unlock wasn't working. Took a look at it, and the DBALL had no lights at all when sent a signal.

Replaced the DBALL with a new one, no lights.

Checked wiring, verified voltage, etc.

Took a known good 5X04 from my car, installed it, and everything works. Put the 'defective' brain in my car, still no lights over D2D.

Also noticed the LED doesn't light up.

Everything else on the system works perfectly -- the things that don't run over D2D.

I tried the ESP2 setting, but I can't get an LED so I don't know if it's actually switching.

Tried zapping it with a Bitwriter. Still no lights.

I'm waiting for comment from DEI, but they don't seem to like me too much.

Any ideas on this??

That's what I was thinking.

How intense is DEI's warranty process?

Probably awful, try converting to W2W? I know, it's a hassle but.

Test before boxing up.

But I still have no data. It has a mux for the door locks.

I'll probably just get another one and eat the cost on this one. Or at least deal with the warranty later...

Anyone know DEI's warranty procedures? Easy to get something replaced?

Sure in s**t. I lifted the warranty sticker by warming it up and gently getting under it with a razor. Got the board out and one of the micro resistors is completely obliterated. I can't even tell what numbers were on it!

Easily fixable, if I can find out what the resistor value was.

The resistor is right off pin 4 of the D2D port. Picture coming soon.

i have that brain laying around in the parts bin, i will open one tomorrow and snap a pic of the board.
Although I no longer install, while i was a viper dealer even then warranty was a pain at times. From my knowledge, warranty is near impossible if it hasn't been installed by an authorized dealer.

Awesome sauce. Anyone willing to do a warranty claim for me? Lol, the warranty sticker is still fully intact.

I'm still curious what made it explode. The D2D harness is perfect - I was thinking a short, but there's no evidence.
