I recently installed a ft-6000as-cont in a 91 camaro. install went smoothly with one exception. When pressing the trunk pop remote button for 2.5 secs, the alarms disarms, and activates the starter. This is with PURPLE / white wire attached to typical relay setup for trunk pop. When PURPLE / white wire is disconnected, starter is no longer engaged.

The install manual states for + trunk systems to use pin 2 in cn1. This makes no sense to me as it is the starter wire. I'm wondering if it is a typo and they meant pin 6 in cn1.

If anyone can shed light on this issue, I would be grateful. I don't want to write the unit off as defective. I'm hoping it is an installation error.

if you arent using positive parking lights, the wire is CN1 Pin 6 WHITE/ Green (adjust jumper under the cover)

the other wire that is a trunk negative trigger (which can be wired to a relay) is CN5 pin 2 PURPLE / white

check your options group 2, feature 4, is set to setting 1.
Never heard of it starting while popping the trunk. You might have something shoring the activation input

I figured I'd post what the issue was for anyone else having the issue. I tapped into the trunk pop circuit at the wrong place. Ours is connected to the neutral safety switch, and this is what was starting the car. I tapped in right after the trunk pop relay, and everything worked perfectly.
