I just bought a truck with this system already installed in it. The brain had no markings what so ever neither does the remote. The system works fine but i only have one remote and would like to get another one. Here is a pic of the remote. Anyone reconize it ?

That looks like an Ultra Start remote from a few years ago.

eBay search for "ultra start remote" and dig through the results; there are a couple there.

Or go to www.ultrastarters.com and see if they can help you---you'll need to find instructions to program the remote to your system as well.

Chris is correct.  It looks like an Ultra Start G-11 remote.  Typically the brain controller has a white label on the bottom side with the Model number.  The good news is that the frequency is standard throughout their line.  It is a one-way, AM, four button remote and any similar remote will work.  I have used the U1250, U1270, U1272, U1280 system remotes interchangeably without problems.

Pairing remotes is simple and common for their R/S's, too.  This is detailed in the Install Guides.

Here are some photo's of a new remote :

I like them.  They are my entry level R/S system.  They are very reliable ( when installed properly with quality solder connections ).  The range is excellent for a one-way AM system.  While they don't have as many programmable features as an Avital 4103, they do have some nice, unique features.  Things like an antenna with Blue ( or Red on earlier models ) LED's, adjustable horn output duration for command confirmation, good Tach Mode sensitivity and easy programming via the remotes.  The only weak area is the un-sealed antenna.  A few direct shots of Windex or a windshield water seal leak can kill it.  Only one OBF/DOA in the past few years and no come-backs for controller problems ( a few customers needed replacement remotes that were dropped too many times ).

While the remote you have gives great range and is very light, the button symbols wear off with hard use.  I like the more rounded metal remotes that are generally found on the original U1272 units.

Thanks for the info Kreg. The system works fine. I want to drop the dash down and check out the install. I was thinking of replaceing the system but if i can get a remote for it i might leave it in. Im not a big fan of this remote either.
