So, as you can see on the smartstart page it takes about enhanced features if you have a dball interface or the like you can get extra features. Like most people I am using a dball to connect the main viper unit to the car. But in the app I don't have any of the advanced features it talks about. Such as the Trouble code reading or the feedback. I talked to both viper support and the place hat installed my alarm and they don't know what i am talking about. Though I can show them this page.
So my question is; what do I need to do to go from having the "SmartStart 3.0 Features - Current and Upgradeable Users" tier to the "SmartStart 3.0 Features - Current and Upgradeable Users with RSR/RXT " tier?
Thank you, this seems like a really awesome site.

It sounds as if those advance features are only available on the RSR/RXT installs. Meaning you won't have those available unless you are able to have an RSR installation. You did not provide the year make model of your car or remote start system so I can not offer more help without that info.
RSR is Remote Start Ready by the way. The DBALL acts as the remote start by itself. The smart start module has 2 way communication via the DBALL's can bus interface. Not all features will be available on every car either.
Hope it helps.

Sorry, my model is a 2001 Jeep Grand Cherokee. on a 5704 Viper alarm system.
I found a digram of the dball that talks about a wire(violet / YELLOW) being connected to pin 2 on the obd connecter. I am about to go check if that wire is there.

This may be worth noting as well..
Note: support for SmartStart 3.0 features depends on which system you have installed and whether the firmware in some of the installed hardware has been updated

I do have some of the smart-start 3.0 features but not all. To that though, going by the installer everything has the latest updates. AS everything had to be refreshed around a month ago. I had a new transmission installed and the place completely darned the battery so everything lost its settings.
Now, It turns out i was wrong, I don't have a dball I have a FLCan as the unit controlling the door locks and the factory alarm.

I doubt the Directed smart start will have full communication through another manufacturers interface. You may be out of luck with your current hardware.

Alright, So I guess what need to be done in order to get those features? Do i just need to connect the smartstart to the obi port somehow? Sadly none of these seems clear.
Thanks

Unfortunately this will require a dball to replace the flcan. Again I am not positive what features will be available on that vehicle. Could be all or could be none.

Alright thank you for your advice, I guess I am trying to catch to see if there is anyone out there who has these features right now. See what they have done.
