5904 won't remote start, but it seems like it goes thru the motions, unlock doors, instrument lights on, remote says- remote start activated. My key starts it. Any ideas?

When you say your key starts it, does leaving the key in the ignition switch make it work?

Sorry, to clarify I meant starting it with the key. I just tries leaving the key in the ignition
and remote starting it and I can hear it lock the doors but does not start it.

Have you got the fold out pages i.e. brief reference guide?
Look at far right, top, Remote Start Shutdown/Startup diagnostics and follow it.

Wish I knew what that meant.
Not having a joke, I've absolutely no idea what it means.

Me too, The error is 4 flashes on the control panel and no flashing tail lights. The Quick reference guide does not say that the tail lights will flash on a shut down error but says
they flash on a start up error. I assume since there are no flashing tail lights and the control
panels flashes four times it is indeed a shut down problem and not a remote start problem even though it will not remote start. Sounds to me like something is telling it not to start.
Here's what the guide says (Transmitter shutdown (or optional push button). Since it says optional push button I would think that to mean trunk, door, or hood pin but it should show me an error code for those faults.

After reading some forums:
Since the remote says it's remote started and the dash lights and radio come on I have to think it's not completing the ignition circuit. I am wondering now if it's the bypass module(DBALL).

Have you taken it back to whoever install it?

I'm going to call them in the morning and let them know whats happening so when I take it there they'll have an idea of what to look for. Just started happening last night and they were
closed already. It's probably the DBALL2, I think it just doesn't recognize the key for whatever reason. I'll let you know what I find out. I appreciate your help though.

thanks jerryj

Leave the key in the ignition, now try it. If it starts it's the by-pass module, if it still doesn't start there's another problem.

Hey Howie,

Just go back from the installers. The dball2 lost it's memory for some reason. Tech
just unplugged it and plugged it back in and programed it again. Simple enough, I
thought that might be the problem just from what i've read elsewhere on the net.
Good to know if anyone ever has a similar issue.

In DEI-speak, it means a shutdown was received from the fob OR from the wht/blu RS activation wire. Few installations utilize the wht/blu wire, but a (-) pulse on this wire is the same as a RS command from the fob. If the engine is not running, a pulse will start it, and if already running, a pulse will shut it down.

DEI-speak takes some patience to master. I'm far from a Master DEI-speak translator, especially on the newer stuff, but the wht/blu wire I know.

Seem's slower to start now that it's been reprogramed, like about 20 to 30 seconds. It used to start in about 5 seconds, any ideas?
