Hey all, so I just had a brand new 5706V installed in my 2005 Dodge Neon SRT 4. Everything is fine, except my dome light stays on. The light is faintly lit. I really mean like the LED bulb is about 5% lit. Which is strange because the LED is only ON/OFF at full brightness. There is no dimmer.

Anyway, I haven't been able to do any serious troubleshooting yet. I was wondering if anyone had ideas on what could be causing this. The new installer said they didn't even tap into the dome light. They used an FL Can and they only tapped into the parking lights.

This also happened with my 5901 install. I don't remember what the previous installer did to correct the issue or why the light was on.

If it's on after the install and it wasn't before the install take it back to them and have them fix it (unless the install was free, then it's you get what you pay for :D). As for what's causing this, apparently a low current is being run through the dome light circuit.

LEDs on my old maxima on my dome light used to be always lit also like OP about 5%. I did have a viper 5106 alarm but it was before i installed the LEDs but i never worried about LEDs already draw very little power so since it was so dim never worreied about. Left car with out starting for days and never had an issue with battery draining.

LED lights drain very, very slowly when the power is removed.
That notwithstanding, follow Catback's advice.

I took it back to the place that installed it. They are completely stumped.

They pulled the power from the Viper unit and the dome light is still on. They are wondering if the light is staying on because I swapped the factory non-LED bulb with a LED bulb.

Previous car, 5904, LEDs post install, no problems.
Current car 5906, LEDs pre install, again no problems.
I suggest a bad door switch or a bad BCM.

Seen it before may need a loading resistor

So both the 5901 and the 5706 have been installed in the same car? If so and the previous installer was able to fix the problem with the LED still installed and the issue reappeared after the new install then the evidence points to the installation causing the problem and not the fact it's an LED bulb.

My thoughts are the LED is getting a ground though something interfaced with the interior/dome lighting. LED's don't require much current, even a high impedance path to ground will get it to glow. There's more to say but I think it'd be too confusing, the above is sufficient enough.
