Hi!,

Is it safe to get 12 volts for the alarm, door lock relays, illuminated entry, and trunk actuator from the 12 volt source from the ignition switch harness?

what is the yr make and model of car?????

you can get the alarm power fron there.
and the trunk release power.
you might over load the your hook ups.
i would look for a second power source.

make sure you use fuses at the hook up point.

I am asking this question in regards to a 1990 VW Jetta

I don't see why there would be a problem. The main ignition wire should be fused high enough to run the car when the key is on that the alarm should function fine when the key is out.
