This is a mini write up on how to remove and modify the Newer Mazda parking light circuit to use directechs tech doc #1096 for negative parking light control.

It is listed in directechs as no wires available at switch, but is not true. It does take a little patience and skill but can be done faster than running to the positive wires.

The vehicle shown is a 2013 Mazda CX-5

Remove the steering wheel shroud as per normal and rotate the steering wheel so that the opening reveals the locking tab for the head light switch assembly.

Flashlogic shows the switch removed but does not mention removing the switch or how to do it.

Your wire colors may vary but you would just cut the ground wire and apply ground to the parking light wire. I used bypass wires because the factory wires were very small.

You will need to notch out the wire cover to bring your wires out safely.

Note that this is not a complete guide and you will need to decide how to interface the wires properly. This is just meant to show how to work on these switches and avoid going under the hood for positive lights. Hope it helps!
