Hey guys. I've been installing a avital 5303 in my old beater 5 speed truck. 94 Mitsubishi mighty max v6 4x4.I have all the main functions installed and working right. My truck is a manual and I haven't connected any of the auto start relay wires.

So I'm running into a few problems. The instructions say nothing about how to avoid connecting the auto start. I get the error lights when the alarm is disarmed. It blinks 6 lights and then 3 lights. 6 is brake wire not detected. It's currently connected. 3 is low or no rpm detected. Also connected So I'm trying to understand what wires turn off these error lights. As the rest of the alarm works good.

DEI was useless for such a question. They say it's on the dealer website. I hope it's something one of you can point me in the right direction on. As I'd like to get this finished.

Thank you

an alarm only requires the following. Hood pin, trunk, door pin, siren, parking light, ignition, 12v, ground, locks

you shouldn't have those errors unless you're starting the vehicle.

I was thinking the same thing. That's why I asked. It works ok. Yet when disarmed it has error lights. When it's armed and I click disarm it always beeps 3 times. Like it was messed with. It's got to be something stupid to turn this off.

I asked DEI and they had me on the phone for 30 min and gave me nothing but grief for not going to an authorized installer. Figured simple beater truck can't be that hard.

I was thinking maybe I need to connect the ignition wire. See if that would solve the issue.

Thanx for the Reply

Ok sounds good. But I have a 5 speed manual. So did I see it right that, I simply need to ground that wire?
thank you

No that is not correct. you only ground the neutral safety if its automatic. On a manual it should be connected to the emergency brake.

since you are not using the remote start portion, no grounding is necessary on that wire.

before I started today on anything wiring. The light stopped blinking 6 and 3. Now it only blinks 2 when disarmed.

So I checked and it says over rev shut down.

I connected the neutral wire to the parking brake. I then connected the 3 power wires to the remote start harness. No change.

Yet I question the fact I don't have any wires to the ignition.
Thank you for the continued help.

No, No, No.

You're reading the "Shutdown" Diagnostic code table. You have to do some things with key on, key off, push the button release, etc to enter Shutdown Diagnostics. So you're NOT seeing "Shutdown Codes.

What you see when you dis-arm with the remote are ALARM Zone codes.(It's the table right above the shutdown codes in the manual).

Here are the correct causes of your error codes:

1 = blue wire trunk pin
2 = shock sensor or mux input green wire
3 = door pin input green or purple wire
4 = mux input blue wire
5 = Ignition
6 = hood pin grey wire.

While you're reading, see if you can find the Manual Transmission Mode for a 5303. I don't think 5303 has manual trans mode available. It's just not safe to install a Remote Starter in a Manual Transmission vehicle unless the system has the features required to be certain that the transmission was left in neutral, before exiting the vehicle.

There's lots of ink on this subject on The 12Volt.

Be safe.

Well after hooking up the ignition wires to the auto start relay. Not installing the purple starter wire. Then after a few resets. It finally is working correctly. Thank you for the help.
