Hi, I want to buy a bitwriter for my Viper 5904 so I can program the features only accessible with it. My question is, is the Dierected 998T Bitwriter ESP2 the one I need? Or will it work with my alarm. I don't know which mine is? I know my manual saids Bitwriter must be version 2.7 or newer. Thanks for the help in advance.

The BitWriter model number is 998T.   The 998T has a prom chip with a revision number.  The latest revision is V2.9.  Version 2.7
is the minimum needed for your Viper system ( V2.9 will work ).

There are many online vendors for the 998T.  Expect to pay around $70 for a brand new in the box 998T with the latest revision chip.

Backwards and forwards compatible with the ESP on older brains, the new series all run on ESP2. Just a newer, faster, more secure communication protocol.
