Hey guys! I just registered here because it looked like an awesome place for help! So I found out a couple weeks ago my 1999 Chevy Malibu had remote start. I ordered a remote, but it still wouldn't work. I took it apart and the internal jumper was set to off. I switched it on and now my car cranks, fires, then immediately cuts off. I don't think its the anti theft, because the module cuts the ignition completely off during starting. Do you guys have an ideas? I would extremely appreciate it! And I hope I'm posting this in the correct thread!! I'm new here!! :)

Did you check for a bypass module?  The car has the Passlock2 engine immobilizer system and the symptoms sound like an issue there.  There are many possible bypass modules, including just relays and a resistor.

Soldering is fun!

I checked it, but come to find out there was another jumper inside the brain that had something to with the tachometer. I switched it and it still didn't work. So I looked at the tach wiring under the hood, and whoever installed it hooked the wire up to the wrong wire on the coils. I switched it to the white wire and it worked!!!! Yay!! Thank you so much for your time! I was starting to think it was actually the bypass module. Thank goodness it wasn't!
