I had a Viper (I think it was a 5704y or something) 2 way alarm/remote start system on my Crown Vic a couple years back. I loved the features, 2 way remote with the screen, etc and I would like to get my girlfriend the same one for Christmas this year, I'm sure it's a newer model by now, but the same 2-way alarm/remote starter.

My question is, can I have it installed, and not use it until then? I want to get it installed sometime before Christmas but not actually use it so she won't know it's there, and give her the remote in a little present box on Christmas morning.

She has a 2009 Ford Fusion, the key has the remote built in, lock/unlock/trunk/panic buttons if it matters.

Should be able to have it installed. Passive arming would definitely require the unit to be placed in valet mode, active probably not. Have them not install the antenna as it has a connector to allow for removal/replacement. Box up the remotes and antenna for Christmas. Install antenna and it's all good.

Our shop does this all the time. Depending on the cars headliner and the size of the antenna it may be able to just be shoved up in the edge so it will work Christmas morning. You may need to pull it down and stick it on the glass for the advertised range after the surprise.

I spend the whole week after Christmas pulling antennas down LOL posted_image

Talk to your install shop. They should work with ya!

Ha, that's great that it's common. Thought I had a great original idea here lmao.

Thanks for the tips guys, I didn't even think of the antenna so thanks for reminding me, but her mirror is pretty big with the auto dimming module and whatnot behind it, she probably wouldn't even notice an antenna there unless the blue light flashed when it's in that mode you mentioned.
