hello all.
Question 1) 2004 Chevrolet Malibu 4cyl. will avital 4103lx 4 button remote and xpresskit pkumux work for remote start door locks and trunk release?

Question 2) if yes. My wiring is listed below. I attempted to use the template but couldn't see how/where to upload the file in xls format. So I pasted it in CSV comma separated. If this is cut and pasted into excel it will format nicely. (or advise me how to use the template)

Currently the starter will crank, but engine won't start on remote. works fine still with the key wired as below.

secondary problems. when I hit remote for trunk release I don't hear the relays in the 4103 do anything, bad unit? don't know where to hook in the rear defrost either.

Thank you 12V wizards. .Great Forum.

The main problem is the use of the Avital (-) Starter output to trigger the PKUMUX.  It should be a (+) signal.
Here is the vehicle wire guide info I'm using :
https://www.readyremote.com/main.asp?make=Chevrolet&model=Malibu
https://www.bulldogsecurity.com/bdnew/vehiclewiringdiagrams.aspx

My answer won't be in the comma delineated format.

Alarm / Remote Start / Bypass Unit,,,Vehicle,,
Connection,Color,Description,Color,Polarity,Location:
1,Red,4103heavy 6 Pin 1 +30a High 12v input,RED / black stripe,+12v,Ignition Harness

4,Orange,4103Heavy 6 Pin 4 Output to Accessory,Brown ,,Ignition Harness
5,Purple,4103Heavy 6 Pin 5 Output to Starter,Yellow,,Ignition Harness
6,Pink ,4103Heavy 6 Pin 6 Output to Primary Ignition circuit,Pink,,Ignition Harness & PKUMUX pink

1,Red,4103heavy 6 Pin 1 +30a High 12v input        to RED / black stripe   @ BCM C3, Pin 1
2,Pink/white ,4103Heavy 6 Pin 2 Output     Not Used
3,Red,4103Heavy 6 Pin 3 30A High 12v Input         to RED / black stripe   @ BCM C3, Pin 1
4,Orange,4103Heavy 6 Pin 4 Output           to Accessory, Brown  @ Ignition Harness  *1
5,Purple,4103Heavy 6 Pin 5 Output   to PKUMUX Violet
6,Pink ,4103Heavy 6 Pin 6 Output   to Primary Ignition circuit,Pink,,Ignition Harness & PKUMUX pink  *2
*1  Can also go to BCM, C4 RED PLUG, PIN C8,
*2  Vehicle Pink Ignition wire can also be found at BCM, C4 RED PLUG, PIN D3,

3,Purple,4103Satellite 4pin connect pin 3 starter output -,Violet,,PKUMUX pin 3 Violet
The PKUMUX is looking for a (+) Starter input ( using thick Purple wire shown above ).
3,Purple,4103Satellite 4pin connect pin 3 starter output - Not Used

7,RED / White,4103 Main 9pin 7 -200ma Trunk Release ,BLACK/ white,,Knee bolster Trunk Release button
Perhaps a typo, wire should be BROWN / White.  Try this wire info for the Trunk Release :
TRUNK RELEASE  BROWN / WHITE (-)  @ TRUNK RELEASE SWITCH or BCM, C1 GRAY PLUG, PIN 71

Additionally, unlike the Lock/Unlock buttons, the Trunk Release button must be pressed and held for 1.5 seconds to pop the trunk.

Thank you for the reply..
I punted... and picked up ADSL ALCA module for the bypass.
new quesiton.. Should I start a new thread?

can the 4103 use D2D with the ALCA?   I see a port labled D2D, but programming options on the ALCA list 2way 1way DBI or wired?

Thank you in advance.

It will work 2 way dbi.

Thank you.
the ADS ALCA says it needs to hit the door pin wire The install guide calls out grey/black (I read Grey with black stripe). It says it needs it to wake up the BCM and for RAP shutdown and somthing about the radio after start.

I can't find that in the drivers kick to save my life. I am looking in the harness that goes out to the door. only black striped wire I saw there, is a green with black stripe, it seems to be 12V constant. Is the door pin, what would be synonomous to the old dpression switch back in the day that turns on the dome light?? assuming its done magnetically or somthing these days. Any help in feeding this last connectoin would be much appreciated.

To work with the Avital 4103 in D2D mode, the ADS AL-CA will need to be flashed with the DBI box checked when you get to that page
during module programming.  Additionally, you will need the D2D harness shown with the red 4 pin connector on one end.

If I remember correctly, most all the wiring can be done at the BCM in the center console.  Look for the Gray/Black drivers door
trigger wire there.  Here is a link to ReadyRemote for their wire info on your car :
https://www.readyremote.com/main.asp?make=Chevrolet&model=Malibu
They have a photo of that wire at the BCM.

thank you!!! got the datalink-ALCA in and programed, remote start working.   left todo.
the heater blower is not coming on with remote start, I think I am on the wrong accessory wire, checking that this morning.

How/where do I tie into the rear defrost on this vehicle? @ switch

Still having an issue with the trunk release, is it possible I am on the wrong side of the release switch?

Just to review.

Finally Job Complete. found Rear Defrost on the HVAC control cluster, middle connector of wires, White Wire.

Set the 4103 to Latch, comes on 10 seconds after start.
