Hello all,
I am having an issue installing a viper 4105V remote starter in a 1997 Jeep Wrangler.

I think the issue is with pairing the remote. According to the instructions you need to:

*Turn the key to the "on" position
*press the valet button and release
*press and hold the valet button
*LED lights up for a second and the horn sounds
*Press the lock button
   * the horn "should" beep but it doesnt...
*Release the valet button and turn off the ignition.

I have tried this 15 times and can never get the horn to beep after pressing the lock button.

Note: I have 2 remotes with this unit and tried both. I also have a second unit (to install in another jeep after this one) and that one does the same thing....

No matter which button or combinations of buttons I press the LED does not light up.

Here is what I have hooked up:

Not familiar with that unit but surely it's key on, then off?

Hi Howie,

Thank you for the replies.

! through 4 and 6 & 7 work fine. Number 4 doesn't matter which button I press it doesn't work. I tried each button 1 at a time going through the steps above with no change I even tried the second remote.
Do you know if the LED on the receiver box is suppose to blink when a button on the remote is pushed? The light does light up on the remote.

Figured out the problem, it was the wrong antenna. After 3 tried as an hour on hold (each time) I finally got through the Viper customer service. They are the ones who figured out it was the antenna but could care less when I told then that this was a sealed kit so they must of put the wrong antenna in the box... Anyway, I called to company that I bought it from and they were nice enough to send me the correct antenna. Now it is working...

There is one small (hopefully) issue. I need to change the cranking time as my old jeep does not like to start using the default 0.6 seconds especially when it is cold outside.

I went through the steps and get a confirmation horn blast as I should however it doesnt seem to crank any longer then the default.

* turn ignition on then off
* press and hold the valet button (I hear 1 beep then the second which is the menu I am looking for).
* Once I hear the second beep I release the valet button
* Then I press the valet button 4 time (cranking time option)
* Then I press the valet button one more time and hold.
* using the remote I press the unlock button 2 times to increase the cranking time to 1 second

This is where the instructions end... I think might need to press or doe something else to get it to stay in memory. What am I missing to get it stored?

Programming System Features
The System Features Learn Routine dictates how the unit operates. It is possible to access and change most of the
feature settings using the Valet button.
1. Turn the ignition on, then off.
2. Select a Menu. Press and hold the Valet button. The number of LED flashes and horn honks indicates the
menu number. A single LED flash and honk indicates menu 1. Two LED flashes and 2 honks indicates menu
2.
3. When the desired menu LED flashes and honks are heard, release the Valet button.
4. Select a Feature. Press and release the Valet button the number of times corresponding to the feature you
wish to change. Then press and hold one more time to select the feature. The LED flashes and the horn
honks to indicate which feature is selected.
5. Program the Feature. While holding the Valet button, you can program the feature using the remote
control.
For features with only two options;
AUX
= option 1 while
AUX
= option 2.
For features with more than two options;
AUX
selects the options in ascending order.
The LED flashes and the horn honks indicating which option is selected.
Once a feature is programmed:
•      Other features can be programmed within the same menu
•      Another menu can be selected
•      The learn routine can be exited if programming is complete
To access another feature in the same menu:
1. Press and release the Valet button the number of times necessary to advance from the feature you just programmed
to the next one you want to program.
2. Then press the Valet button once more and hold it.
To select another menu:
1. Press and hold the Valet button.
2. After 3 seconds, the unit advances to the next menu, the horn honks and LED flashes indicating which menu
has been accessed.
The learn routine exits if any of the following occurs:
•      The ignition is turned On
•      There is no activity for 30 seconds
•      The Valet button is pressed too many times

I am fortunate to find this thread. I have looked at this site for a while, now I found what I am looking for.

2005 Jeep Wrangler - No Sentry Key, No immobilizer, no power door locks - yet.

Question 1- on the door lock wires from the 4105v control unit. Since I am adding two wire door lock actuators, does the 4105v controller have a built in relay so I can connect green from controller to green to actuator and blue from controller to blue from actuator? If there is no relay in the controller, I have no problem adding a couple (one for green, one for blue). Just did not want to complicate things.

Question 2- I see no indication the the remote start part of the system requires a "pass through" on any of the connections. It appears from what I have found that these are all "tap" connections. Is this correct.

Wiring will be very similar to the OP, with the exception of the door locks.

TIA

You will need a 451 module that plugs into your lock port else if the locking kit has a dedicated timer relay then those wires are fine.

What do you mean by pass through?
And when you say TAP I hope you mean soldered joints.

Thanks for the reply -

By "TAP" I mean a soldered connection.
By "pass through" I mean a wire in the ignition harness cut, connected to a wire that goes through the controller and the free end of the "cut wire" connected to another wire coming from the controller.

Got the relays for the door locks figured out - using two five pole (Bosch style) relays. One connected to the blue lock wires, one to the green lock wires -

Then you are quite correct, no "pass through".
