So I have a 2004 Silverado crew cab with a viper 4706v remote start.. Trying to wire in the defrost.. Read on here the wire is white at the BCM gray conn. Pin A8.. Tested the wire and it rest on positive and latched neg when the defrost button is pushed. Also no need for relay? Wired the blue/white from the viper (-200mA) directly to the white at the BCM. Tested it with RS and it rest on pos, however when I turned defrost on via the remote the wire doesn't show neg or pos... Do I need a relay?

Did you change the function of that wire to a latched status?
Menu 3, item 11, option 2.
Default is STATUS, then LATCHED REAR DEFOGGER, then PULSED REAR DEFOGGER.

Been warm weather lately. Maybe not cold enough for the Viper to turn on the defrost. Usually about 12-15 seconds after remote start is running, if it is cold enough.

So I put a volt meter to test the wires and verified I changed it to latched (menu3,item11,opt2).. I was using a test light previously (those air bag safe ones that show pos/neg led). The wire does show -11.9 when the defrost is activated (guess not enough amps to light up that test light), but the defrost light on the dash isn't lit?? So I'm not sure if its actually working or not. I guess I could wait for a frost to occur overnight but really want to have this done before it gets too cold to work on (I don't have the garage space).
ohh, by the way I do have the XK01 bypass using D2D. Think some posts say's the defrost turns on when it hits a certain temp but was looking to do it manually from the remote (does it matter if I wire it manually to the 4706v? will it mess with the XK01?).
End results I want:
1. To manually turn on defrost without it having to drop below 32degrees (or what ever that temp needs to be).
2. Verify on the remote that defrost is on and working (in the morning I usually just hit the RS and start to get ready for work, I don't want to go look at the car every 5mins or so to verify its running and defrost is working. Thats why I got the 2way remote)
Thanks for the replies smokeman1.

Disclaimer on the XK01 says defrost may or may not work...bla...bla.
You can press the F button 4 times and then press the Remote Start Button to manually activate the defrost AFTER the vehicle has been remote started. The parking lights flash four times, I believe, to acknowledge the command.
You could be inside the truck with a multimeter to check the heating grid for voltage. Just for testing purposes.
Also, you may see a defrost icon on the LCD display. Shown on pages 8 and 9 of the 4706 Owners manual.

Another 'test' whether the grid is receiving power or not is to feel it with your hand. Usually after only a minute or so you can feel the temperature difference between the area covered by the grid, and an area near the edge of the glass that is not. Helps if the glass isn't in direct sunlight.
If still in doubt, go get the meter, as Smokeman suggested.

Update... Got it working like I wanted.. Thx for all the help.
I ended up wiring acc powerup to the brown wire so on remote start it has power. The defrost needs that powered. Tested with meter and its working, remote also confirms. The defrost light on the dash is not lite but meter shows power going to the rear defrost.
Also found out the XK01 doesn't need a relay for window roll up if only the front windows are needed. However it's needed if the rear window roll up is wanted. And the dang thing rolls up driver side first, then passenger, rear driver, rear passenger in that order. Now I only need to fix the SLOW roll up of the passenger side (dang thing doesn't even roll up all the way) I guess there's a time limit on the roll up.
