Subject: Prefered bypass install for a DEI RS unit?

I am seeking advise of the experienced out there for a preferred bypass unit to combine with a DEI Remote Starter unit (Viper 4204V) on a Toyota Matrix 2007 automatic. Anyone feel strongly for the DBALL2 vs the iDatalink ADS-ALCA or the Fortin EVO-ONE? I am at odds as to which one will install simply and be happy with the Viper unit.

Thanks for your opinions in advance.

ads-alca all day. Just remember youll need to buy the programmer to flash the correct firmware onto the module

I've used plenty of DB-ALL. Not had a problem. Mostly W2W, and a couple D2D.

You'll need a programmer to flash the firmware.

Thanks dcman41 and smokeman1, I apreciate both your responses although I am still not committed to either way.

I have been following the posts on the forum (lurking) for a while now and I see support for both units. I am looking to cut down on install wiring if possible and hoping to use the D2D connection if that makes a difference in your opinion that would also be helpful.

Either way programming will be required but I am hoping to get that done here at a local shop (for a fee I would expect). Thanks again.

Cheers, Darcy

I'd highly recommend ads-alca based on my experience and research. Too many people have complained about the quality and build issues with DEI bypass products. I haven't seen any complaints about the idatalink ads-alca. It's a tiny module and it just works. Programming the firmware and settings was a complete breeze. Plus, you don't need an extra key for it to work properly like some of the cheaper modules out there.

Both the alca and Db-all are overkill for this install. Save your money and purchase a idatalink tb module, key override from Fortin or even a xk05 with pkti firmware. The Db-all and alca have the ability to do some amazing things that make installs much easier but not for your 2007 Matrix. They will only handle transponder bypass.

All three will work just fine. The bigger question is, are you sure your vehicle has a chip in the key. If I remmeber correctly those didn't always have the transponder built into them. To check, wrap the head of the key in tin foil, try starting the car. If it starts, no transponder. If it doesn't start then you will need a module.

Thanks beegbie I guess your right as the car is quite basic other than PW/PL so if the TB is an easier and less expensive option I should go that way.

As for the the comment from rs_specialist, thanks for the tip and yes it does have the immobilizer and chip key.

ads-alca I would recommend I had so many issues with DEI products like modules losing programming when battery gets disconected and bad customer support.

Thanks to all for the great comments and suggestions, I bow to your knowledge base.

I did go with the ADS-AlCA module but now after flashing the update I am having trouble getting the confirmation (GREEN/ red flash) on the installed programming; any suggestions?

Cheers, Darcy

Happy Christmas/Festivus to all.
