Hi all,
I am working on an remote start. I can get the car to start with key in the ignition with the remote start, but when I plug in the 4 pin to the sl3 my car will not start and I get a flashing key light on dash.

I also can not get the SL3 to program. The light turns on but does not flash.

I have the security lamp wire hooked up to pink wire. the colors did not match directions, so I went with the pin number from the guide.

The 2005 Pilot is a little unique with the wire colors at the transponder plug.  Here is the correct info from iDatalink :

Pilot STD key AT 05
Ignition   pin 6 RED / White (+) Ignition switch
Data    pin 2 RED / Green (DATA)      Ignition switch
Security          pin 5 Pink      Ignition switch

It matches with how you have it ID'd.  Security LED is Pink.  Double check a few things.  The SL3 has the Security LED
outputs marked as In and Out, so make sure you have it connected that way.  Also verify that the SL3's 8 Pin plug is not
upside down or not fully inserted.  If I remember correctly, programming is pretty easy.  Hold the SL3 button, plug in the
4 pin plug, then plug in the 8 pin plug.  Release the button when the Red LED turns on.  Turn the ignition switch to ON and
the LED gives 10 fast blinks and goes out.  Remove the key.

Thanks Kreg for the information.

I checked the security led outputs and they looked right, but still no luck, so I switched them and still nothing. The 8 pin connector for the SL3 can only go in one way, but i did make sure that i pushed it in all the way. I also visual inspected all solder connections and they look good. My next step is going to be to check for wire continuity from the 7 pin to the 8 pin just to make sure they are working.

As for turning the ignition switch to the on position. Does this mean put key in, then turn 1 click ,2 clicks or try to start ?

Thanks,
Chris

Hi Chris,

Just 2 clicks to ON, don't start the engine.  I just did a 2005 Civic with the Honda SL3 module and it gave those 10 confirmation blinks very quickly after the key got to ON.
