I recently pulled a very old Clifford "Cliffalert" alarm out of my old Honda Accord and want to put it into another car. The car it's going into is a Camry. I have the wiring info for the car. What I am hoping is that someone out there might be able to help me with the wiring (pinouts) on the alarm. I have gone to the Clifford website, but they only have the wiring diagram for the Cliffalert3 which appears a bit different then what I have. The wires that come out of the alarm harness are as follows:
Red (Wired to the positive battery terminal)
Black (Grounded)
Orange (Thought this was a sensor input, but it appears to control the siren)
White (Not sure, think its for valet switch)
Violet (Wired to LED, pulses on the meter when system is armed)
Grey / YELLOW (Not sure, it shows about +9v armed or disarmed)
Grey (Door switch)
Yellow (Not sure, I had this hooked to the siren but it did not work correctly, the orange wire works with siren)
WHITE/ Brown (Ignition kill, this shows +12v armed or disarmed)
Grey/White (Not sure, does not show anything on the meter)
WHITE/ Green (Think this is for unlock, when connected to a plus voltage wire it drops the voltage to zero for a few seconds on disarm)
Green (Not sure, does not show anything on the meter)
Additionaly, I have hooked the shock sensor up to a seperate 12v source and when I shock it, it shows a drop on the meter, so the sensor is working fine, I just am not sure where to land the sensor wire on the alarm brain wiring harness.
Any help will be greatly appreciated!! Thanks.
I have this installation basically figured out now. A lot of patience, trial and error and my trusty meter paid off. Doubt this will truly be of any use to anyone. My alarm is so old, nobody will be using it. But I will post what I know about the wires on the original Clifford CliffAlert alarm that I have. (These wire color codes are different than a CliffAlert 3. Use the wiring diagram on the Clifford website for the CliffAlert 3.)
Red (Wire to Constant 12v)
Black (Ground)
Orange (Wire to Siren)
Violet (Wire to LED)
Grey / YELLOW (Sensor input)
Grey (Door switch)
Yellow (Parking light flasher on arm)
WHITE/ Brown (Ignition)
Green (Armed)
White (Still not sure, think its for valet switch)
Grey/White (Not sure yet)
WHITE/ Green (Pretty sure this is for unlock)
Anyways, the alarm works to protect the doors and shock sensor works. I might add motion detection later using the wiring info I saw on this sight for hooking 2 sensors up to one input using diodes. Should work fine. If this is of help to anyone, great! If not, oh well
