2012 Sportage. No smart key. Avital 4103. Starts and runs for exactly 2 minutes and shuts down, the restarts. Any thoughts??

Is your tach hardwired? Are you running in tach mode?

No. Tried voltage and VT. Both failed. Tried new brain, ran 2:30. Stumped....

I'd hook up/program for tach before trying anything else.

No GDI. I've had this same issue on another Kia years ago. I've turned off engine checking (temporarily) so the customer could drive it home with it working until I did more research.

The previous Kia had the same issues, and running the tach wire did not correct the issue. It was a guy I knew, so I turned off engine checking on his and he moved shortly after. Spoke with him and he reported no issues with RS after all these years.

It's just funny it happens on Kias. I'm puzzled as to why.

Shutdown Diagnostics say anything?

Couldn't get them. RS would start the vehicle again immediately after it shut off.

Virtual tach equals a very real repair in the near future. The issue is with the way Kia/Hyundai alternator works. The alternator will charge it just enough not to kill the battery. Sometimes12-12.5v at idle. The remote start sees this as an issue because it should be 13-14.4 at idle. Tach is the only reliable way to do these vehicles. Trust me on this. I own a Kia and a Hyundai. Plus I do remote starts for a local Kia and Hyundai dealer daily.

That makes sense. Thanks for the response. I've got another Kia to do in the next week or so.
