I want to install a remote start alarm on my kia but I was wondering besides the alarm kit what else is needed for the installation. The alarm is a viper 5704v. Do I need any interface or bypass module? If so can I use a xpresskit or something like that. Thanks

If the Sorento is not PTS then you don't need a bypass if you live in the USA. If it is then you will need a DBALL2

What is pts? How about the chip that is in the key fob. Don't use need a bypass module to remote start? This is the key fob I have.posted_image

No interface needed. I do those all day. Even own one. Pretty easy install.

So with just the alarm (viper 5704v) nothing else is needed?

PTS = Push To Start. That key looks like a normal key that flips out. If it is a flip out key then yea no bypass needed, just the Viper 5704v. If you actually have a PTS then you would need a bypass module like a DBALL2

Thanks a lot guys. I have done a 2001 Honda civic, 2001 chevy 2500 and all have a chip in the key and I had to use a module to remote start so I did not have to leave in the car and spare key. So I just want to be 100 sure I didn't need one for this install. Also is there a post were there is a step by step for the 2015 kia sorento install for remote start and/or wiring diagram. Thanks

NP, here is the post.

Basically almost all Kia's if they are not PTS then they don't have any key chip security.

I was told the 2015 is different wiring. Not in the same place.

I looked at DirectTechs for the 4x10 and it seems like the color might of changed but they often do that. I don't have access to DirectWire since I'm not a certify installer. Maybe someone can post the wiring diagram.

Not trying to sound like a dbag, but if you don't know the basic wiring mapping maybe you should have a pro do it. If you don't know exactly what you are doing you can mess it up really quick, specially with a Kia since they are known to have sensitive electronics.

Okay so I went to a professional installation place it is a authorized Viper and directed dealer. He says that I need the dball2 to remote start. He said how are u going to remote start the car without the key in the ignition. U have to bypass it. I thought it was kind of strange when you told me it didn't need it.

You need a bypass if your car checks for cars with key security. Kia and Hyundai are known for not having chip key base security unless you have a PTS. My wife 2012 Sorento and my friend 2014 Sorento without PTS work just fine with out a DBALL2. I have done about six other Kia/Hyundai without PTS and I did not need a DBALL2.

Every 2015 Sorento key start I've done hasn't had a transponder key in it. No bypass required.

The above wiring from ready remote is correct for your truck.

Maybe your install place is confused. In the Dball instructions, it doesn't even list a Standard key install option, only Smart Key. In the Idatalink install guide it specifies that USDM cars don't have a factory immobilizer.
