Hello all, I am going someone can help me out. I recently installed a compustar maxit bundle. (Cm7000as) I configured it with the remote that shipped and got everything running as expected using the 4 pin antenna cable the kit shipped with. Today I decided to install an EZGO kit to make getting in and out of the car easier. However I can not get the EZGO remote to pair up with the system (EZ100R).

Steps I followed to install EZGO:

I removed the 4 pin to 4 pin antenna cable

Installed the EZGO 6 pin to 6 pin cable

Mounted the EZGO RFID antenna

Plugged in the EZGO supplied 6 pin to 4 pin adapter.

Plugged the original 4 pin to 4 pin cable and antenna into the 6 pin to 4 pin cable.

Buttoned up the install

Took the original 4 button 1 way remote and stepped through turning on option 1-14.

Inserted the keys into the ignition and cycled acc 5 times

Pressed the one button on EZGO remote but did not hear a confirmation click from the brain

Waited 5 seconds and Exited programing.

Tried the EZGO key and nothing happens.

Just to confirm I was entering into programing mode I tried the sequence again but reprogrammed the original remote, and it worked fine.

Does anyone have a clue what I am missing? The EZGO remote looks to be working because the light on the button illuminates when pressed.

The only thing that I can think of is that I messed up the option programing, but have no idea how to confirm without an op500 (which I ordered and will be arriving late next week)

Not that it helps you any but I have an EZGO kit which has what sounds to be the same problem as yours. The regular remote passthrough works just fine and the light on the EZGO remote works when you press the button but it will not register with the brain/antenna.

Also, if you’ve got an idatalink cable for flashing bypasses (and an account with them) you can also update the firmware on your compustar brains as well as set options. Might not be as convenient as the OP500, just another option.

I'm assuming you installed the necessary ground. You just didn't mention it your steps. Step 4 below.

Installing The FT-EZGO
Step 1: Flash your CM6 Series control module for FT-EZGO compatible firmware.
Step 2: Set Option 1-14 to Setting 3
Step 3: Connect included 6 Pin to 6 Pin with Ground Wire to control module. If connecting to a 4 Pin to 4 Pin
antenna, use the included 6 Pin to 4 Pin adapter.
Step 4: Connect the ground wire from the included 6 Pin to 6 Pin cable to vehicle’s ground.
Warning: Failure to connect this wire WILL result in damage to your FT-EZGO antenna (ANT-RFID).
Step 5: Connect your antenna to the ANT-RFID. This is the blue 6 Pin port. If you have a 4 Pin antenna cable,
use the included 4 Pin to 6 Pin adapter.
Step 6: Find a spot to mount your ANT-RFID on the windshield. This is recommended for optimum range.
For more specific mounting location information visit us at www.firstechonline.com under the Authorized Tech
section document titled: “FT-EZGO Recommended Mounting Locations.”
Step 7: Program your EZ100-R and additional RF Kit remotes to the control module (Maximum 3 Remotes
including EZ100-R).
You are now ready to test your FT-EZGO system.

Yeah it's grounded to the same spot as the brain itself. I took the unit to a local shop and they were not able to get the unit to function either and confirmed using an op500 the settings were correct. So I opened a ticket with compustar and hope they get back to me with some advice or replacement options.

Replace the battery inside the ezgo fob...trust me thats the problem, they haven't been manufacture in awhile and all batteries are too weak to program. Its strong enough to turn on the LED when the gray button is pressed, but not enough to transmit. That drove me crazy the first time... Now I automatically change the battery at the install time.

Thanks! I will try that tonight and report back. I hope it's something that simple.
