I have a 1998 Jeep Grand Cherokee Laredo. I lost the one and only remote for my keyless entry, so..
I ordered 2 Omega Proline REC43t Keyless entry systems. Installed one in my fathers 2000 Jeep cherokee sport with no problems. However, when i installed it on mine it wont work. After searching for a while online i found the 98 JGC has a different setup and requires a different wiring setup? Something about adding relays, or a DEI 455tw system? Can someone please help me figure out how to get my keyless entry working, and what is wrong?
Thank you very much!

You need to 5wire each door motor wire or find a 455t and interface into the data bus system. Dei discontinued this piece cheap years ago. Some go on eBay for stupid money because it's a lot of work to run wire into each door and the tail gate. I remember doing these when new. I would run 2 wires into each door for motor and switch side and install 2 relays to run the whole thing doing a standard 5wire

Thank you for the reply.
I searched and cannot find one of the 455tw. If its not too much to ask, will you please give me an instructional on how to do a 5wire?
I have never done one before.. I would appreciate it ,thank you!

And also,
Will any other system other than the DEI 455tw work for my vehicle?
I was hoping to find a cheaper way of doing it because it is expensive to buy that system, not to mention hard to find.
Any other keyless entry, or alarm w/ keyless entry that will work on mine?

You only need to run 3 wires into 1 door. You will have to solder those 3 wires to the contacts of the contacts of the rocker switch inside the control assembly. You will have to use 2 relays that duplicate what the switch does.

I remember doing the Trailblazers this way when they came out. I never did the Grand Cherokees this way. I guess it could work if you are good with a soldering iron. And to the Original poster. There is no other module that I have ever seen or heard of other than the 455t that did the locks in this vehicle.
