He got a Prestige APS57E and FLCAN. I'm looking at the Type 1 install guide on the FLCAN and will be using the DATA Mode cable. I'm mapping out the connections and need help on a few cables. From the FLCAN to R/S, do I need to run the E-Brake, Ignition, and Trunk status to each other? Do the FLCAN also handles the door lock/unlock and hood pin? Please verify my connections below. Thank You!!!

------------- triniforever Posted By: triniforever Date Posted: March 05, 2016 at 8:58 PM Also the FLCAN gives you a Tach output so connect the GREEN/ Orange wire from the unit to the PURPLE / White wire on the FLCAN ,the rest of your connections look ok except for the BROWN / Black wire from the unit needs to be connected to the Orange wire on the FLCAN and the Brown wire from the unit can also be connected to the Orange wire or you can leave it not connected im not sure maybe someone else on here can give you some more information on that wire .
------------- triniforever Posted By: redknights Date Posted: March 05, 2016 at 10:23 PM Thanks triniforever, I forgot that this is a one way R/S so I need the wires going to the FLCAN instead of the Data Mode. What about the other required connections (12V, Ground, and Ground When Running) from the R/S to FLCAN? Can I use the (1) Black in 4PIN harness to FLCAN:Black, (12) in 14PIN harness to FLCAN:BLUE/WHITE, and 12V form R/S. Here are the updates connections and NC is no connection.

Also you can connect the R/S Dark/blue trunk release wire to the FLCAN RED / White wire. The FLCAN Power and Ground wires can go to any 12v and ground either from the remote start or the vehicle , the GWR from the FLCAN can be connected to the Light/Blue wire on the R/S unit .
------------- triniforever Posted By: redknights Date Posted: March 06, 2016 at 9:33 AM Thanks again triniforever!!! I didn't do anything yet, the installation will be next week. I'm just mapping everything out to get it ready for the install. Should I flash it DL-TL1 with Data 1-Way?
Posted By: triniforever Date Posted: March 06, 2016 at 10:39 AM Actually do hardwire since that what it is wired for and good luck!
------------- triniforever Posted By: redknights Date Posted: March 13, 2016 at 8:22 PM Had a chat with Kreg and he helped me out tremendously. His detailed install process were amazing. This is his recommendations.
************* This is a bit complicated, so hopefully I can explain it properly. The APS57E is a nice unit. From the factory is comes set to DBI D2D mode. That is exactly want the FLCAN needs, so set the FLCAN to Installation Mode = DATA ( one blink flash pattern ) and lock it in. Of course the FLCAN must be flashed with the DL TL1 firmware for your Highlander. The FLCAN and APS57E can communicate in full 2 way data mode via the D2D cable, so all the Orange dash lines are valid. Door Lock, 3-PIN Connector 1 RED (-) Door Lock Output >>> D2D harness 2 GREEN (-) Door Unlock Output >>> D2D harness 4-PIN 2nd Main Harness 1 BLACK Chassis Ground >>> To Highlander frame / chassis ground 2 WHITE/ RED Parking Light Input >>> Ground Chassis ( join with Pin 1 above ) 3 YELLOW/BLACK To Controlling Alarm's Ignition Input >>> NC 4 WHITE (-) Parking Light Output >>> headlight switch, white 20 pin plug, pin 18:LT BLUE 14-PIN Main Harness 1 GREEN/ ORANGE Tachometer Input >>> D2D harness 2 GREEN/ YELLOW Glow Plug Input NC 3 DK BLUE (-) Channel 3 Trunk Release Output D2D harness ( Tailgate window release ) 4 BROWN / BLACK (+) Inhibit/Shutdown To Brake Switch >>> D2D harness 5 BROWN (+) Inhibit/Shutdown >>> not used 6 GRAY (-) Inhibit Neutral Start Switch >>> not used 7 NA 8 BLACK / YELLOW (-) Pulse During Crank Output >>> to relay for ACC1 circuit 9 BLACK/ RED (-) Pulse After Shut Down Output NC 10 BLACK/ BLUE (-) Pulse Before Start Output NC 11 BLACK/ LT GREEN (-) After Start Output NC 12 LT BLUE (-) Ground While Running Output >>> D2D harness 13 GRAY/BLACK (-) Inhibit/Shutdown To Hood Switch >>> to kit supplies hood pin switch 14 BLACK/ WHITE (-) Horn Output >>> dash fuse box, white 16 pin plug (1D), pin 11:(-) GRAY Wire Side View Of Connector 1 Blue (Ign 1) Black Ignition1 * also gets FLCAN Pink wire 2 RED / White (+ 12VDC Relays Ign 1 & Ign 2) WHITE/ Black +12V 3 Green (Ign 2)Light Blue thin Ignition2 4 Purple (Accessory) ** Red thin Starter2 5 Red (+ 12VDC Relays ACC & Start) WHITE/ Black +12V 6 Yellow (Starter) Yellow Starter1 The problem is that the Highlander needs 2 Ignition, 2 Starter and one Accessory outputs from the APS57E. As shown above the APS57E is not able to power the Accesory1 circuit during a remote start. To accomplish this you will need a 30/40 Amp SPDT relay wired up like this : Relay Pin 85 to BLACK / YELLOW ( Pulse During Crank Output) **APS57E programming required Relay Pins 86 and 87 to +12V constant through 10 Amp fuse Relay Pin 30 to Light Blue ( thin ) Ignition2 There will be some programming you have to do on the APS57E. Bank 3, 5th Feature should be set to DBI Tach. For the Accesory1 circuit ( ** ), change Bank 3, 20th Feature to "Same as ACCY". To change the APS57E wire from ACCY to Starter2, change Bank 3, 9th Feature to "Same as Starter". As you can see, to get all the Highlander's ignition circuits powered properly we have : APS57E to Highlander IGN1 going to IGN1 IGN2 going to IGN2 Starter1 going to Starter1 We changed the ACC output over to a Starter output and connected that to Starter2. We added a relay controlled by the BLACK / YELLOW wire to power the ACC1 circuit. Confusing but the only way to do it. As for the Hood Pin, if you don't have the Factory Alarm system, your Highlander probably doesn't have a Hood Pin and the FLCAN will not be able to supply that signal to the APS57E. This is something you can test for after the install. If opening the hood while remote started does not shutdown the engine, install the APS57E kit supplied hood pin and hard wire that input signal and connect the FLCAN ORANGE / Black wire to chassis ground. Going with D2D, there is no need to hardwire either Brown or BROWN / Black (+) Inhibit Input. The FLCAN will supply the Foot Brake signal via D2D, just like it does for Lock, Unlock, Hatch release and Tach. Kreg ************* The RS did had issues picking up the tack during the learning process through DBI. I hardwired it from RS. 1.GREEN/ ORANGE Tachometer Input >>> ODBII Lt Blue and changed Bank 3, 5th feature to Tach. |
