It has factory remote entry, not sure if keys are chipped but my guess is that they are (same year Super Duty diesels are not though, so I am not 100% sure)

1. That said, based on above it would need a bypass module, or model that includes one, correct?

2. I am reading online that factory antenna is weak, so aftermarket remote start would be way better than Ford add-on to remote entry?

3. Not sure on 2-way vs 1-way. Battery life in remotes is a factor as I don't want recharging them to be a nuisance. Need some insight there.

4. New system will be installed by a friend who is a diesel mechanic that has experience with wiring, but an outstanding question is a warranty provided by given brand based on who does installation (I heard bad things about Viper in that regards and I don't think he would qualify as "technician")

5. Integration with existing remotes would be great, but not required as I have seen some awesome remote designs. Not a fan of LCD remotes though. I would like 2 exactly same remotes.

6. Doors have to be able to be opened via remote while the truck is running.

7. Suggestions for brands/models?

Thanks!

Look at an audiovox prestige APS57n. Remote start with keyless. Easy to install. Key has a chip. Look at a PKALL.

Looks like PKALL fits the bill. Is it a plug-in for my Ford? If not, is there any module that is? Something like Directed Electronics 555P? I think I read somewhere that there is a plug-in Code Alarm module.

I guess that answer to question #1 is yes then too.
Any insight on rest of my concerns?

I am also looking at Audiovox CA5154, Viper 4103XV and Compustar models (G8 and G9)

there are no plug in bypass modules or remote parts for that truck.

Any of those remote starts are fine.

replace the remote, do not put into factory remote. Limited range

Id stick to the APS57n, or the 4103. Durable remotes good battery life, good range.

None of these companies warranty a customer install. Professional install required for warranty.

The Super Duty / Excursion installs are straight forward, but a bit fussy for a first-timer. Lots of wires at the IGN switch. There are 3 ACCY circuits. Most of your interfaces to locks, dome supervision, light flash, etc can be made at the VSM which is in the center stack, under the radio. So have the tools to get the radio out for access.

You will also need the Wait to Start light and I've found that a tach input works better on Diesels than "Virtual Tachs". Engine checking that uses voltage-sense doesn't work on 7.3 and 6.0 PSD's because the glow plugs remain on for up to two minutes after start which keeps system voltage low.

Study, study, then study the wiring diagrams for your year and vehicle and install instructions for your unit until you understand all the connections required. Then go install it.
