Hello,

I saw this thread: https://www.the12volt.com/installbay/forum_posts.asp?tid=140965 which inspired me to ask a similar question: is there a way to create a continuous ground while disarmed output using the negative unlock output pulse from a DEI 2102T PKE? Ideally the relay setup wouldn't be energized while the car is off/armed.

Thanks!

Use a dual coil latching relay from Omron works off lock and unlock. No current draw that way.

What kind of current capacity do you need? If it is to drive an LED wire positive wire to constant 12 volts. Ground the LED to an Ignition wire. Ignition off there will be enough of a ground to illuminate an LED.

Thanks guys. The dual coil latching relay looks perfect.

As for the current, I think < 1amp. It's to enable a push to start module. I was thinking maybe I could just use a normal relay and connect it to the starter kill output? Wouldn't this inverse the signal, so that when the car is disarmed, a constant ground would be output for use with the push to start module?

Thanks again

Show me a diagram of what you're suggesting.

Actually, it looks like the "Starter Kill Output" on the PKE is ground while armed (correct me if I'm mistaken), according to this diagram:

So, wouldn't I just need a normal SPDT/SPST relay to reverse it so I could have ground while disarmed? Or would this route require the relay to be energized the whole time it's armed?

Why don't you test and see but yes I think the wire going to the coil 85 of the relay looks NEG tome, tap that but diode block, i.e. inline diodes, 1N4004,bands towards unit.
