Hey guys, I just purchased a vehicle and it came with a Viper 4704v alarm system. I'm able to get the unit to lock/unlock and remote start to work, however I cannot get the alarm to go off and the alarm does not chirp.

I verified I am not in valet mode both via the remote and when the vehicle is turned on the LED is not solid.

Further, if the doors are locked, I leave the window down, stick my arm in and open the car door, the alarm does not go off and there's nothing on my fob. The fob still shows the doors are locked, even though I reached in and opened the door.

 Ideas?

Also...dealer said it was working prior to me purchasing, however the remote wasn't working. I removed the positive terminal from the battery in an effort to reset the system and after hooking everything back up and pairing the new remote, it hasn't chirped. Previous owner said everything worked prior as well.

So to recap, I can lock/unlock and have the remote starter working, the alarm portion just isn't working. The vehicle is a 2007 FJ Cruiser so no bypass module is required.

If it really is a 4704 It does not have an alarm feature. Only keyless entry with remote start. Sounds like the two people that told you it has an alarm are full of doodie. If the door trigger was hooked up it might indicate on the remote the door is open. (not sure on that model). But they might not have hooked it up because its only necessary on manual vehicles. On alarms it needs to be hooked up for the alarm feature and programming. Since yours isn't an alarm, it probably wasn't connected.

Dang, thanks for the reply, makes sense now. I bought a 5706v, looks like I'll just have to install that one. Thanks again.
