I just installed an keyless upgrade alarm on a Nissan Sentra 2002 an am having a little trouble. Everything works fine except that it can be disarmed via the inside door switch, which makes no sense of course. If anybody has dealt with this and has a solution, please let me know.

did u have a factory K/E and you added an alarm upgrade??? if so yes that sounds right. the alarm will arm and disarm from the pulse for the door locks. the wires from the alarm will see power when the door lock and unlock via transmitter or switch. i would just use a stand alone alarm. if the Factory K/E gose bad you will loose your alarm also..

Yeah, but I'll have to tap into the same wires as the k/e (power lock and power unlock) won't the inside switch still arm the stand alone system as well?

yes it most likely will, because the aftermarket alarm will see the pulse on the lock and unlock wires. it dosent matter if you use the switch or transmitter. same pulse on each wire. ------------- Good Luck

When doing these there should be a wire on the alarm for unlock switch sense or disarm defeat. That wire tags into the wire usually the passenger door motor wire and will make it so that the switch doesn't disarm the system, but you can still arm it using the switch.

Just to clarify, tags into the passenger door UNLOCK motor wire. I don't do a lot of Nissans but from my info it would be:
Unlock Motor blue/red pin 13 at SECU
SECU located to the right of the steering column.

The alarm does have something called a mode 2 operation. It has 3 leads coming from the alarm for the unlock/lock wires. The green hooks into the lock, the blue to the unlock, and the red does nothing in Mode 1 which I have it in now. Mode 2 calls for the green and blue together to the driver's lock and the red to the passenger unlock. I've hooked it up this way and could not get it to disarm the system. The sentra does have a lock/unlock door button on the passenger side, I don't know if this has anything to do with it??
