Hi,
Just wondering what might be up. I installed a bulldog system with the xk05 in the 08 corrola. It worked fine for a couple months. Now it wont start unless there is a key in the ignition. When I unplug and replug the xk05 in, the light on the xk05 comes on for a sec but goes right out. When I hold the its reset button in while plugging it in, the light does not come on at all. I only have the two keys so I don't think it's the "maxed out slot" issue. Do these units fail often? All connections are soldered. Just cranks and cranks til I insert a key. Then it's fine so I figure it's something with the xk05. Thanks for any info.
Ken

Looks like it needs to be reflashed

That may be but I never had to reflash it originally. The weird thing is that it worked fine for a while then stopped. I never had to do anything to it to flash anything in the beginning. I never had to hook it up to anything but plug it in to the harness I connected to the car wires. Then, if I remember, just went through the key learning operation. Now the light won't do as it's supposed to(like when i press the button in while connecting it, I believe it's supposed to stay on solid(?), but it doesn't seem to respond to that operation. |Thanks for your response.

Unfortunately this happens a lot with the XK05. I stopped using them in favor of the ADS-TB from Idatalink. I had to replace no less than10. They would just lock up or lose programming. I know I will be replacing more soon. Instead of reflashing them and reprogramming them I just now replace them and send them back for credit. I did reprogram the first couple then those came back. No more. I don't even use ANY directed modules unless it's the only option. If there is a choice I will not use them.

Thanks Brows,
Sounds like it's a common thing and likely an irreparable part problem. I will check out the ADS-TB. As long as I don't need any dealer interaction to activate it I should be fine.

Unfortunately, the ADS TB bypass module would need to be flashed prior to use with the correct firmware ( TB-TL ) using
a special ADS USB cable ( ~$40 ) and authorized access to the Flash section of the iDatalink WEB site. Another great
option is by using either the ADS TB KO or ADS TBSL TI bypass module. These are in the Solo series and come pre-flashed
with the correct firmware and are ready to go right out of the box.

Soldering is fun!
