I am hoping someone out there can help me figure out what a few wires on my alarm are for.....
I have this installation basically figured out now. A lot of patience, trial and error and my trusty meter paid off. Doubt this will truly be of any use to anyone. My alarm is so old, nobody will be using it. But I will post what I know about the wires on the original Clifford CliffAlert alarm that I have. (These wire color codes are different than a CliffAlert 3. Use the wiring diagram on the Clifford website for the CliffAlert 3.) Following are the wires I know the function of...
Red (Wire to Constant 12v)
Black (Ground)
Orange (Wire to Siren)
Violet (Wire to LED)
Grey (When armed, causes alarm when grounded, if it is grounded during arm does not cause alarm on unground)
WHITE/ Green (Door Unlock on disarm)
Yellow (Door lock on arm)
WHITE/ Brown (Ignition, if this wire is not grounded the alarm goes of immediately after arming)
Grey / YELLOW (Sensor input, currently wired to shock sensor)
Green (Not connected to anything, this is a wire I need help figuring out)
White (Alarms when armed if grounded, alarms if grounded while armed, currently hooked up to dome lamp to alarm if doors get opened or if left open on arm by accident)
Grey/White (Need help with this one also)
If anyone has suggestions on what to do with the remaining wires that have me confused, please give me some input. Thanks!
do you a the info for the wires on the unit its self??? look on the bottom.
most alarms have a positive and a neg trigger wire. you will only use one on them.
also most alarms use a ground when armed wire for the starter disable. and one it wont unground the alarm when you disarm it....
some alarm have a trunk release wire...
use you meter to see if you get a positive reading when you use any of the extra buttons on your transmitter for 3 sec. or more..
if so thats your trunk release wire.
