My car originally had the viper 5704 unit installed. Some where along the way the brain is now acting quite odd and has been deemed faulty.

A friend of mine has the 5706 unit availble for me to switch into but just wanted to make sure that its all plug and play and that the only difference would be the antennae/remote.

is this possible to do? or can i only use the 5704 brain with my current wiring.

Yes, just the antenna and remotes.
5704/6/9 brains are the same.

Correction the wire colors are the same but!

1st. R/S 10 pin connectors are reverse order of each other. So you have 2 choices re pin the old plug to match the new brain or rewire it to the vehicle.

2nd. 24 pin connector has the same first and last wires all the rest are in a different order. Best to rewire to vehicle.

NOTE:wire colors are unchanged for functionality only positions order in plugs are different.

Main plug and all other plugs other than the above 2 already listed are identical in every way.

I didn't realise the brain was being changed, you only have to change antenna and lead and repair the remote(s).

Yup so the Remote start and 24 pin connectors will need to be addressed. As they are pinned out different!
