Ok so im doing this install dball2

Im sure i follow it however one thing has me worried.

Im using a avital 4103 and its ignition is a "IGNITION OUT +"

the dball2 install diagram in using list a IGNITION "INPUT"/OUTPUT + on the remote starter.

Does this mean I cant use the avital and need to look for a starter with in/out ignition or is it just wording?

Or do I maybe not hook up that wire at all? I think the dball itself will send start command right?

Im doing this as a surprise for my dad but want confirmation on this one question before i get at it.

Thanks,

James

The remote starter Ignition wire is both Input and Output. The input part is used when programming features or new remotes to the unit. Usually seeing an ignition signal when turning the key on.
The output is powering up the ignition during remote start.
Hope this helps make sense of that function

So Even though its labeled as output only it still is input/output and im putting the diode as per diagram to prevent output in this case from what it seems.

so by following the diagram and putting a diode on this with cathode end on RS side it will work as input only correct?

Thanks for your input on the behavior it clears things up for me.

So seeing the map and installing a 1N4004 diode (what i found locally) do i need to worry about the diode getting hot? will it get hot?

1N4004 is the standard for 12V installations requiring 1 amp and you won't notice any heat, it's all low current.

Thanks Howie!

One more concern, the 12 volts at BCM that DEI shows to use is 10 amp. The Avital leads 2 of them are 30 amp. Will they be ok here?

Im assuming since the starting isnt being fed by the avital it shouldn't be an issue correct?

Depends on the ignition circuit's draw could I suggest fuse box battery feed or direct to batter (fuse at battery)if you're unsure.

Thanks Howie.

I normally try and follow DEIs install diagrams 100% however in this case Im not liking where they went for the +12 volts.

I plan to tap the 125amp red white going to the fuse box under the driver seat instead.

Its my dads truck and I dont want to take any chances.

Gotta drive over to his house and have one more look at it before I do it I want to proactively know where Im putting everything.

I now know i will be doing connections under the driver seat, in the steering column and in the pass side dash at the bcm gotta see where im gonna position it all and how to get everywhere :)

Im not normally nervous but its for my dad and i want to do it as a surprise. my idea is to install it all and then surprise him later by getting him to test the fob in the driveway without telling him its his truck lol.

(i know he wants it so it will be a good surprise)
