I just installed an OEM Kia remote starter. I just had 4 wires to splice into, the rest is plug and play harness. I followed the instruction to the letter...
Problem is it wont start. I can hear the fuel pump priming then it cranks for a few seconds and quits. A few seconds later it attempts to start again but it fails.
Anyone have any advise to offer?

It's been a while since I've done those but don't you need to program the tach ?

Hey Joe, thanks for your reply.
I suspected the tach also and what i did was start the car with the key and then pushed the start button on the remote, remove the car and the car kept running, i then put the key back to the ON position hit the brake pedal and i heard the remote start disengage. So the system is sensing the tach input, if not it would have stalled. My suspicion is with the OEM security system. posted_image Looks like a visit to dealer $$$$$, which i would like to avoid!

Thanks Frank

Do you have the install sheet for the system ? There should be a trouble shooting section. I think there is a tach learn procedure

Install sheet attached. Troubleshooting section, pretty useless.

Thanks

Hmm did you use the crimp connectors that come with the kit ? If so maybe try removing those and soldering directly to the wire I've had those be an issue before. Those are the first things I throw in the trash. Recheck all connections make sure there all tight. Make sure the I think it was GREEN/ orange that was your tach wire on the front of the fuse box make sure that one is secure. There usually straight forward to install. There is a tech line to call but I'm not sure they would help you not being a dealer.

Hi all,

Just thought i would update everyone on how i resolved my issue.

I just took the Sorento to a shop (VitroPlus) and what i needed was a bypass module installed. (iData-Link). The tech explained that since i bought the OEM starter in the US, the unit does not have a bypass for transponder keys. Apparently not all cars sold in the US use transponder keys (not sure if this is true). Anyhow my remote starter works now and i'm happy with it.posted_image

Thanks

Thanks for the update. I didn't know you weren't in the US. The US models don't have transponders in them. Glad you got it working
