Hello everyone, first poster here :)
I hope I can get some help from you guys regarding a problem that i have with my 5901 Viper alarm, here it goes:
I own a ford mondeo (year 2005) european model, installation was made 5 years ago and hard wired to the cars electrical system. Right now the alarm only has the glass break sensor attached (i used to have all the other modules but i removed them 2 years ago)
Got to the car one morning and notice that the battery remote died, so when I opened the car door the alarm trigered (normal behavior). I disabled the alarm by removing the alarm fuse (i did not use the override swithc - more on that later) and got on my way.
I recharged the remote battery and then tried to disarm the car. When i put the fuse back in, the alarm trigers and trying to disarm the sistem using the remote does not work - the remote behaves as it is out of range.
What i tried:
- i tried cicling through all 5 possible override switch options (open door, ign on, press override switch once - up to pressing the switch 5 times) - did not work
- tried to pair the remote - i cannot get the brain to exit the alarm mode. Pressing on the override switch does nothing.
- alarm stops only when the engine is started or the ign is on
- when alarm is trigered the remote receives notification that the shock sensor has been trigered.
- at one time i received a notification on the remote saying "Alarm Key ON" - i have never seen this before
- I have not tried using the secondary remote
- the local viper installer is useless - don't want to deal with them
- i removed the car battery one whole night, when i returned to the car and put the fuse back in, the same thing happened - alarm trigered and remote does not work.
Can anyone pease give me some ideas regarding what elese can i do?
What should i try ?
I remember at one point that I have changed the override number of presses, but i do not know to what number, also it does not seem to work anywais as i cicled through all 5 presses.
Can the override setting be reset?

I'm not sure what is going on with yours, but if you want I can send you all the paperwork I have on the 5901. I have the same one in my vehicle. Just ran into an issue of the DBALL losing its programming and wasn't allowing the vehicle to start.

Thanks, but I already ahave all the documentation. The problem is that nowhere in the documentation is a mention about how to completely reset the brain (i am looking at removing whatever setting i put for override button)
Any ideas are welcome.

Eventually the local dealer was kind enought to help. Apparently the remote has been lost from the memory of the unit.
Another problem is that once the ignition was on, power was removed from the unit. This was really weired....
Anywais, new power feed was used and the valet override switch was able to be selected.
System is now functioning properly.
