Hey guys,

I have a 4105L Avital remote starter. This is installed on my 2002 Subaru Forester. I have everything else working except the power lock only. The Unlock power is working. I found the Lock and Unlock wire by shorting them out to the negative ground on the Chassis which triggered the switch, this help me determine it was a Type B locks.

According to Avital manual:

Door lock Harness, 3 pin connector

Blue: (-) Unlock output >>>> To Unlock Door Wire (This works)
Green: (-) Lock output >>>> To Lock Door Wire (This NOT work)

I press the key fob lock button, I see the parking light flash but doesn't seem to trigger a negative to the lock wire.

Troubleshooting Steps:

While still connected to the Car lock/unlock wire. I placed a meter 12vdc to the Blue (-) unlock output, Press the key fob unlock button, I can see the voltage 0 out at the time of the tigger and unlocks door which Works.   Then I placed the meter to the Green (-) Lock output wire which doesnt work, press the lock button on the key fab, only parking light flashes and meter doesn't 0 out.

As a test, I reverse the Lock and Unlock wires from the Avital, the keyfob lock button triggered the door to unlock which works, now the unlock button doesn't trigger the door to lock. The trouble seem to follow the Green wire from the Avital.

My conclusion: Avital Green Lock output is not putting out any negative trigger.   

Could this be a defective trigger from the Avital Module or is there something in programming that has to force it to send negative trigger on the lock output wire?

Your conclusion doesn't match up with your test results. Since you were able to switch the wires (green and blue)and in essence unlock the doors by pressing lock.   That means that your green is now hooked up to the unlocking wires of the car. So if that is the case, then the issue is not following the green wire. Your issue is with the door lock wire in the car itself. That is the wire that is not responding to the input you give it, either from the green or blue wiring coming off the alarm.

Yes you are correct, I have misspoken my test.

As a test, I reverse the lock and unlock wires from the Avital module. The keyfob lock button DOES NOT trigger the unlock, the unlock button keyfob Triggers the lock. So, it appears that the Lock wire/Lock button green does not trigger the negative pulse. Bad module? Any suggestions would be great.

Reverse Test:
Unlock Keyfob button: Blue: (-) Unlock output >>>> To lock Door Wire (This works)
Lock Keyfob button:    Green: (-) Lock output >>>> To UnLock Door Wire (This NOT work)

Normal Test:
Unlock Keyfob button: Blue: (-) Unlock output >>>> To Unlock Door Wire (This works)
Lock Keyfob button:    Green: (-) Lock output >>>> To Lock Door Wire (This NOT work)


Also please note that I tested further by shorting out the lock and unlock wires to ground and it triggered the unlock and lock switch.

Ok, here are a few suggestions. If you have a multimeter, test light, power probe etc. Remove the green wire from the lock wire of the car. Then test the green wire for a ground pulse when you press lock on the fob. It should pulse ground for a moment. This will test if the Avital module is in fact working.

If that works, and your are SURE that grounding the cars lock wire will indeed lock the doors. Then you simply have to put in a relay for that lock wire. The avitals locking ground pulse might not be strong enough to trigger a lock. So a negative relay will do the trick.

Yep it was a defective avital module. Placing my voltmeter on my module lock and unlock wire, I see voltage drop during the trigger on the blue unlock wires from the module, I did not receive any voltage drop trigger on the green lock wire. In the meantime when this issue first arise, I ordered a second avital module and it happen to come in today. Installed the new one and everything works! Thanks for the troubleshooting suggestion.
