Hello, I installed an Omega Excalibur RS-160-EDP+ on a 2008 Hyundai Santa Fe utilizing the OEM remote for activation. When the vehicle is running with the remote start system the OEM remote will not unlock the vehicle. If I use the key in the door the factory alarm will sound once the door is opened.
I know the factory remote will not operate during a normal key-in run cycle, thus explaining my condition during remote start, except the key obviously is not physically in the ignition. My question is, in addition to the key sense what else is telling the BCM the vehicle is running? Can it be bypassed or relay controlled? Basically, can I bypass the feature of the OEM remote "going to sleep" during remote start.

If the OEM alarm/keyless entry had a separate module and was not incorporated into another computer (ie: BCM), it would have an ignition input that you could use a relay to open (interrupt) the ignition lead to the OEM keyless entry when running by remote start, but it appears yours is part of the BCM.

One option is to locate the factory disarm lead of the OEM alarm/keyless entry and have the remote start disable it while running by remote start, however it will likely still not allow the OEM remote to work while running by remote start.

What is the sequence you use with the OEM remote to start the vehicle?

Hello and thank you for your prompt reply. The remote start is activated by pressing the lock button on the OEM remote three times. The first click will just lock the doors and arm the car, the second and third clicks each give me a horn beep. I'm using the horn beeps to activate the double negative pulse for the activation of the system. I may change this to a negative pulse from the door locks because the horn is not always the most reliable due to the duration of the beep.
I see you indicated if I had a separate lock module I could interrupt the ignition signal with a relay, however, regarding the signal that is sent to the BCM to disable the OEM remote while the vehicle running, can this signal to the BCM be interrupted via a relay?

I meant to say "If your OEM alarm/keyless was a separate module..." instead of saying "If the OEM alarm/keyless entry had a separate module..." Not sure how that happened. (doh!)

It's highly unlikely that you can or even should attempt to interrupt the ignition signal to the BCM without negative results.

I would attempt to have the remote start disarm the factory alarm so you can enter the vehicle without triggering the alarm when it is running by remote start.

The next option I would recommend is installing an aftermarket alarm/remote starter. This would be my preference.
