Greetings,

I used to install mainly DEI alarms but it's been several years. We mostly used two different types of door lock actuators. The standard looking ones and a green slightly more boxy DEI one.

Searching online I noticed there are tons of lock actuators for sale on Ebay etc. They mostly look exactly the same, with some priced around $4 each, but I have no clue if these are garbage with a high failure rate.

Does anyone have experience with some they purchased online, or any comments?

Also, decent alarm recommendation? Someone pretty simple, don't want to get carried away. I saw a couple of Avital units that look decent for around $40 or so.

Thanks

I've used DEI for trunk pop/tailgate lock/door locks with alot of success, and no failures. I tend to stick with the DEI brand for the quality and reliability.

I did try another cheaper brand, I don't recall which one, on a truck tailgate lock. It failed after about 6 months and replaced it with a DEI. That was 7 years ago...still working today.
